Cinema Art Theatre: ‘Gunda’
May 27, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Click to view Trailer:“Gunda,” is a one-of-a-kind gorgeous documentary that follows the daily lives of farm animals.
Experiential cinema in its purest form, the film chronicles a mother pig, a flock of chickens, and a herd of cows with masterful intimacy. Using stark, transcendent black and white cinematography and the farm’s ambient soundtrack, visionary Director Victor Kossakovsky invites the audience to slow down and experience life as his subjects do, taking in their world with a magical patience. “Gunda” asks us to meditate on the mystery of animal consciousness, and reckon with the role humanity plays in it. The film is executively produced by Joaquin Phoenix. [2020, US/Norway, 93 min, Rated: PG].
John Urbancich of “JMuvies” exclaims, “Nothing speaks except the wonders of quaint farm life in a sparkling, black-and-white documentary named after the giant sow that steals the show along with her ever-appealing piglets.” Bob Strauss of the “San Francisco Chronicle” writes, “You’ll feel like you’re making new best friends when you watch ‘Gunda.’ It’s as pure a farmyard experience as a movie can conceivably be.”
