SUMMARY:March's 31 Days of Raffles supporting the Lewes Library
DESCRIPTION:“Every day in March the library will draw a raffle ticket to win $100 in gift certificates purchased from local businesses. \nWith 31 days in March\, you have 31 chances to win! \nEvery day is a NEW drawing\, so if you do not win one day\, your ticket will remain in the pot and could be drawn the next day. All net proceeds benefit the Library. Tickets may be purchased at the library and select area businesses.” \nThis a super fun raffle BUT the only reason we are able to give away gift certificates to LOCAL BUSINESSES is because those businesses donated the gift certificates to us. RIGHT NOW things are a little uncertain for many of the brick and mortar stores and restaurants that serve our community\, and make it a wonderful place to live. \nPLEASE show these folks some love right now – pick up food to go or order delivery\, buy gift cards online\, shop their website\, and tell your friends\, family\, and neighbors to do the same (but only talk to them from a safe distance!). Below are all the businesses that supported 31 Chances. Even if a local business isn’t on the list\, show them love too. We’re all in this together.” \n*** BREAKING NEWS *** \nThe Library is pleased to announce there will be a special prize drawing on the final day of drawings (March 31).\nThe first name drawn on that day will win a $250 gift card for use at any of the following Highway One Companies: Rusty Rudder\, Northbeach\, Bottle & Cork\, Outlet Liquors\, Ivy\, and Dewey Beach Liquors. \nThe second\, and final\, name drawn will win the GRAND PRIZE of a Dogfish Head Craft Brewery gift box full of Dogfish merchandise and a gift certificate for a two-night stay at Lewes’ Dogfish Inn. This package is worth over $500. \nRAFFLE TICKETS ARE ON SALE!\nStop by the Circulation Desk. Raffle tickets are offered at the following levels: \n\nFEELING LUCKY: 1 ticket for $20\nTRIPLE PLAY: 3 tickets for $50\nLUCKY 7: 7 tickets for $100\n\nLewes Public Library | (302) 645-2733

This year Lewes in Bloom funded the purchase of 26\,931 tulip and 3\,950 spring bulbs that were planted in fall 2021 by members of Lewes in Bloom.\nThe timing of the tulips’ appearance is an inexact science and either milder or colder weather in advance of the event dates can increase the probability that the dates of the celebration may not exactly coincide with the tulips blooming! The event dates (April 1-17) span three weekends. \nThe locations of the plantings will be identified on the map produced in association with the celebration. More than 100 varieties will be on display. \nTiptoe To The Tulips Map: The event organizers created the Tiptoe To The Tulips Map that will be available in late March at the Lewes Chamber of Commerce’s Visitor Center located in the historic Fisher-Martin House in Zwaanendael Park. The visitor center is open Monday – Friday\, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.  Copies of the map will be available at brochure boxes throughout the historic commercial district. The map lists more than 20 locations where the bulbs were planted. The tour cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Purchase tickets at www.historiclewes.org/visit/tours/html. \nFloral demonstrations and tulip sales: Ken Norman\, owner/designer at Floral Inspirations\, located on the beach side of the canal at 524 E. Savannah Road\, in the shops under the Beacon Motel\, will be hosting demonstrations on Friday and Saturday\, April 8th &  9th and 15th & 16th from 1 – 3 p.m.  Owner/designer Mayumi Williamson of Flowers by Mayumi\, located in the historic business district at 128 Second Street\, will be hosting a drop-in floral arranging demonstration on April 8 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.\nSpring Geranium Sale: Benefits the GFWC Zwaanendael Women’s Club’s Community Service Programs. SUMMARY:Spanish Conversation Group\, Lewes Library
DESCRIPTION:“Join Spanish speakers 18+ to improve your Spanish-speaking skills. \nBasic Spanish conversational ability is required. \nNOTE: this is not a traditional class — there is no Spanish teacher. Instead\, it is a group of people who already speak some Spanish\, or who have studied some Spanish\, or who are now taking some classes elsewhere. Members include retirees\, college students\, and others who have a range of Spanish speaking abilities. Members of the group make suggestions as to what we might do in future classes. There is usually a ‘homework’ assignment preparing each person to talk in Spanish for 2 to 3 minutes to the group. There are icebreakers\, games\, and invited guests who speak on various topics. Each week is different. Nearly all of the discussions are in Spanish. The group is very informal\, friendly and there is no pressure to participate.” \nThursdays | 2:00 PM Eastern Time | Hybrid (Online and In-person)\n \n  \nAll copy and pics from the website: Lewes Library

SUMMARY:Cabaret at Milton Theater
DESCRIPTION:The Milton Theatre makes a grand return of its in-house productions this 2022 with the iconic stage musical CABARET!\nDaring\, provocative and exuberantly entertaining! Cabaret explores the dark and heady life of Bohemian Berlin as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich.\n“A stunning musical… this marionette’s-eye view of a time and place in our lives that was brassy\, wanton\, carefree and doomed to crumble is brilliantly conceived.”– Walter Kerr\, The New York Times\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Cabaret (1998)\nWebsite \nBook by Joe Masteroff \nBased on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood \nMusic by John Kander \nLyrics by Fred Ebb \nIn a Berlin nightclub\, as the 1920’s draw to a close\, a garish Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience and assures them they will forget all their troubles at the Cabaret. With the Emcee’s bawdy songs as wry commentary\, Cabaret explores the dark\, heady\, and tumultuous life of Berlin’s natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Cliff\, a young American writer newly arrived in Berlin\, is immediately taken with English singer Sally Bowles. Meanwhile\, Fräulein Schneider\, proprietor of Cliff and Sally’s boarding house\, tentatively begins a romance with Herr Schultz\, a mild-mannered fruit seller who happens to be Jewish. Musical numbers include “Willkommen\,” “Cabaret\,” “Don’t Tell Mama” and “Two Ladies.” \nCabaret opened on Broadway on November 20\, 1966\, and played for 1\,165 performances at the Broadhurst\, Imperial\, and Broadway Theatres. The London production ran for 336 performances at the Palace Theatre. The show was revised for Broadway\, first in 1987\, when it played for 261 performances at the Imperial and Minskoff Theatres\, and again in 1998 at Studio 54\, where it played for 2\,377 performances. In 2014\, Cabaret returned to Broadway at Studio 54\, playing an additional 388 performances. \n\nAbout the Milton Theatre\nOfficial Website | Facebook | Twitter | Instagram \nThe historic Milton Theatre is a uniquely diverse venue where you will find the best local\, regional\, national\, and international talent. Free municipal and on-street parking are available. Full bar and light food options available. This facility is fully accessible. \nall pics and info from website: boxoffice@miltontheatre.com
