DESCRIPTION:“Lewes Senior Activity Center sets free events\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWalk aerobics\, Zumba\, tai chi\, yoga\, card games\, a trail walk and a health fair are among the programs and activities the Lewes Senior Activity Center will offer during its second annual Active Aging Week Sunday\, Oct. 2 through Friday\, Oct. 7. All programs and demonstrations are free and open to the public.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nEvents will kick off with a Zumba/LaBlast-athon fundraiser from 1 to 3 p.m.\, Oct. 2\, in the center’s main hall\, with a $10 donation at the door. All proceeds will be donated to the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition. Instructors Pamm Pauley and Cindy Beaver will offer a great workout for a great cause. \nThe schedule also includes a Medicare presentation and ice cream social\, Paint Night with Judy\, Cooking with Dave\, crafts and board games. \nLunch will be offered at 11:30 a.m.\, Friday\, for $5. SUMMARY:Greyhounds Reach the Beach
DESCRIPTION:Greyhounds Reach the Beach® is an event for greyhound and sight hound owners\, held every Columbus Day weekend in the ocean communities of Dewey Beach and Rehoboth Beach\, Delaware. The dates for this year are October 5th – 9th. The event creates awareness of the need for foster and adoptive homes for retired racing greyhounds\, raises funds to support greyhound adoption and brings owners/adopters together to celebrate their hounds. \nGRtB has been held in the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center (RBCC) since 2019. Directions to the RBCC and parking information can be found here. Started in 1995 by several friends meeting in Dewey Beach for the weekend\, Greyhounds Reach the Beach® has continued for nearly three decades. For many years it was managed by The Greyhound Project\, has been managed by The Grapehound Wine Tour\, Inc. since 2015 and this year\, Greyhound Pet Adoptions of Delaware – GPAD is taking a much more active role in the planning and organization. \nGRtB features speakers\, vendors in both the RBCC and Rehoboth Fire Hall (right next door)\, boat tours\, walking tours in historic Lewes\, leisurely strolls and professional photo sessions with your hound(s) on the beach\, an auction\, a parade\, a bonfire on the beach\, and a Blessing of the Hounds. Vending in the RBCC will start on Wednesday evening and continue through 5PM Saturday. \nIf you plan to attend this year\, we suggest you pre-register so you can receive an E-booklet prior to the event. The E-booklet has detailed information about speakers\, vendors and planned activities. You can pre-register on the Registration & Store page for $30. There will also be registration at the door for $35. \nQuestions about GRtB 2022 can be sent to admin@grtb.org. DESCRIPTION:Through an agreement between South Coastal Library and the Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild (RBWG)\, the RBWG will host a weekly FreeWrites on Thursdays at South Coastal Library. \nA FreeWrite is an informal gathering of writers of ALL skill levels who practice creative writing in a friendly and nurturing atmosphere. It’s an opportunity to have fun with writing and explore different genres with other writing enthusiasts. Each FreeWrite is facilitated by a RBWG member with experience in teaching\, writing and/or leading such groups. Participants write brief prose\, songs\, poetry\, and fiction. Some participants use the time to brainstorm ideas for their own novel or to begin or continue short story writing. Writing prompts are designed to focus on particular writing aspect e.g.\, the use of sensory details\, using strong verbs\, writing dialogue\, etc. FreeWrites are open to anyone in the local community (age 18+). While these are sponsored by the RBWG\, attendees do not have to be members to participate. \nThis program is designed to promote writing and literacy in a supportive and welcoming environment. \nThe FreeWrite facilitator is Paul McFarlane.
