SUMMARY:RAL Open Studio Time (sketch\, photography\, pottery...)
DESCRIPTION:“Want to take part in a RAL tradition? In 1949\, Howard Schroeder started the Open Studio Sketch Group to give artists an opportunity to gather once a week to sketch or paint live models\, an idea inspired by a group he had belonged to as an artist in New York City\, his birthplace. The group remains active today and is open to interested artists by reservation. The group meets in the Chambers Studio from 7pm – 9:30pm each Thursday.\n\n\nHOWARD SCHROEDER SKETCH GROUP\n\nTo receive the Sketch Group weekly invitation\, contact the Education Programs Director at 302-227-8408 x112.\n\nLearn more about all our open studios: https://www.rehobothartleague.org/education/open-studios/”\n\n\nIN FACT\, there are SEVERAL OPEN STUDIOS you may want to consider\n\n\n“The Rehoboth Art League offers a variety of Open Studios to those whose memberships with the league are current. These venues\, which currently include photography\, pottery\, painting and drawing\, and creative writing\, offer an open\, unstructured working environment for people to develop their creative process among their peers. No instruction is provided. Artists are asked to bring their own supplies and to work independently.” \nOPEN PRINT STUDIO\n“The Open Print Studio is the art league’s digital venue for fine art photographers\, as well as artists interested in making reproductions of their work. Monitored by trained members of the Coastal Camera Club\, the art league’s Print Studio allows photographers access to color correct\, edit\, and print images on a variety of fine photographic papers. Adjust your images on your home computer\, or have a studio monitor assist you in the lab prior to printing here. Members’ accessing the Print Studio are responsible for a nominal studio fee ($2 per hour) as well as the cost of any paper and materials purchased. Open Print Studio is available to RAL members and/or Coastal Camera Club members by appointment. Contact printstudio@coastalcameraclub.com for an appointment.” \n\n\nOPEN POTTERY STUDIO\n“The Rehoboth Art League’s well-developed Pottery Studio and School has everything you need to create ceramic art—from available wheels to a hand building room\, and from a wide selection of glazes to several kilns for firing work. There is a charge of $2.00 per hour (maximum of $10 per day) to participate. Clay is available for purchase and each bag purchased includes glazing and firing. Open Pottery Studio usually takes place on Monday\, Tuesday\, Thursday\, and Friday from 10am — 4pm and Sunday from noon — 4pm. Times may change if there is a class or workshop scheduled. To receive the weekly Open Pottery Studio schedule\, contact the Education Programs Director at 302-227-8408 x 112.” \n\nAll info and pics from the site

The goal of the FreeWrites is to provide a place and an opportunity for people to have fun with their writing\, to explore different genres\, and to do this in the company of other writing enthusiasts. Each FreeWrite is facilitated by a Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild member who has experience in teaching\, writing and/or leading such groups. Participants write prose\, songs\, poetry and fiction\, work on novels during free writes\, and start short stories. Writing prompts are often (but not always) designed to focus on a particular aspect of writing: the use of sensory details\, the necessity of strong verbs\, the craft of writing dialogue.”\n\n\nI take myself by surprise. Writing at a FreeWrite! is like throwing a surprise party for yourself.  You never know what is going to spill out on your computer screen.  Is an evil twin lurking in the machinery? Or is it my fingers that somehow acquire access to long forgotten memories\, buried dreams and nightmares? No matter how many times I ask myself\, Where did that come from\,  No matter how many times I think I should have run out of surprises by now–something unexpected jumps out from where it’s been lurking behind a load of unpacked boxes in the basement of my mind.  I didn’t know I knew that\, I think.”\n—Sarah Barnett \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMORE LOCAL OPPORTUNITIES TO WRITE\nTraditional FreeWrites \n(visit the website for updates: FreeWrites)–and please note holiday dates when classes will not be held\nMondays \n8-10 a.m.\nRehoboth Beach Library (please use the back door).Carl Frey\, Joanne Sinsheimer\, and Tom Hoyer will alternate leading. SUMMARY:Milton Theatre_Lady Supreme: A Diana Ross Experience
DESCRIPTION:Diana Ross has withstood the test of time as a performer with a career that spans decades. \nLady Supreme: A Diana Ross Experience is a spectacular tribute to the life and work of the Supreme Diva. Accompanied by top notch singers and musicians\, Deanna Carroll covers the hits of the Supremes to Diana’s solo sensations with spot-on vocals. \nDeanna’s rich and powerful voice makes her the perfect candidate to pay homage to this musical icon. Her career credits include recording backing vocals for jazz saxophonist Paula Atherton and British sensation Joss Stone\, live television performances backing Vitamin C\, and live performances with Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Little Anthony and Darlene Love to name a few. You can also catch her on stage fronting her funk dance band Jetstream\, as part of the trio that makes up the Chiclettes-a tribute group to female artists through the decades\, and as a backing vocalist for Bobby Wilson in his world class tribute to his late father the Legendary R&B/Soul Singer Jackie Wilson. \nShe commands the stage in true diva style and shares colorful and fascinating stories depicting scenes from Ms. Ross’ life. Diana Ross is known for her signature costumes and Deanna does not disappoint! Every ensemble sparkles\, glitters and emulates the classiness that audiences have come to love and expect. \nThe way she captures the sheer essence of Ms. Ross makes this tribute a must see! \nAll copy and pics at the website.

SUMMARY:Archaeological Society of Delaware | Before the Dutch
DESCRIPTION:The Archaeological Society of Delaware invites everyone to join us and hear about recent studies in Sussex County history and prehistory. This month archaeologist Dr. Edward Otter will discuss what life was like for the people living in the Lewes area before the coming of Europeans. Interpretations are based on historic documents and archaeological research in the region. \nDr. Otter received his PhD from Catholic University in Washington\, DC. He is the owner and principal of Edward Otter\, Inc\, an archaeological consulting firm. Dr. Otter’s research interests include coastal adaptations and the analysis of past foodways. \nArchaeology is a scientific discipline that seeks to understand how people lived in the past. It is the only means of learning new information about those who left no written records and provides another avenue of study for those who did leave records. Delaware prehistory dates back of 12\,000 years and there is a rich colonial history: all of which can be studied through archaeology. \nThe Archaeological Society of Delaware is a non-profit organization established to promote the preservation and study of archaeological sites in Delaware. Advocacy is an important aspect of the society as sites succumb to development\, coastal erosion\, and infrastructure projects. Membership is open to all persons with an interest and there are three chapters (New Castle\, Kent\, and Sussex). \n  \nALL COPY AND PICS FROM THE WEBSITE
