SUMMARY:Water Family Fest and Native Plant Sale
DESCRIPTION:The 2024 Water Family Fest and Native Plant Sale will be held on Saturday\, May 4\, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Note: This event is rain or shine. \nThe Water Family Fest and Native Plant Sale\, which started in 2019\, is free and family-friendly. It features “feet-wet\, hands-dirty fun\,” outdoor recreation and educational opportunities\, multiple exhibits\, food trucks\, and a native plant sale. \nOrganizations and nonprofits will be at James Farm Ecological Preserve the entire span of the festival so attendees can take their time exploring activities and exhibits. \nLocal plant nurseries will be there to answer questions on the importance of native species and will have a variety of native plants for sale to the public. \nEducational exhibits will help people explore environmental topics such as seagrass\, shellfish\, waves\, beaches\, wetlands\, tax ditches\, rain gardens\, and more. \nThroughout the event\, there will be a series of short talks on diverse topics such as diamondback terrapins\, invasive species\, coastal ecology\, plants and more. Come see for yourself\, and we might just change your mind!\n\nOperaDelaware is set to present Puccini’s opulent\, unfinished masterpiece “Turandot\,” at The Grand in Wilmington\, DE on May 17 & 19. The Princess Turandot will marry any suitor who seeks her hand\, as long as they can answer three riddles. But if they fail\, they’ll have a date with the executioner’s blade! OperaDelaware is the only professional opera company in the state and the 11th oldest in the country. Yet\, they still retain their founder’s original philosophy of “Opera for Everyone.”\n\nTickets are $20 plus fees. This event is held on the lawn at the Carl M. Freeman Foundation Office Building.
