DESCRIPTION:Share your time\, your skills\, your way.\n  \nIf our members are the Village’s heart\, our volunteers are the Village’s soul.\nThose volunteers give selflessly of their time\, their talents\, and their compassion in order to serve their neighbors and nurture a vibrant community of support for older adults in Sussex County\, Delaware. \n  \nOur volunteers are also incredibly loyal. Many are members themselves. Many have been with the Village since it began operations in 2013. And part of that loyalty is due to the fact that the Village encourages volunteers to choose the services they enjoy and their availability schedule. \nAnd volunteering has its own rewards! In a survey by the United Health Group: \n\n96% of volunteers say their efforts give them a richer sense of purpose in life.\n95% say volunteering makes their community a better place.\n94% say it improves their mood\, and 78% say it lowers their stress levels.\n\nOurs is a proactive\, data-based approach that balances supply and demand through sophisticated demographic mapping. Members can count on volunteers who are reliable neighbors. SUMMARY:COMPUTER HELP at Sussex Co. Libraries
DESCRIPTION:From registering online for programs to figuring out our own PC\, our local libraries can help with SO many of the problems we face.\n\nGeorgetown Public Library: Thursdays\, 10:30am – 11:30am\, and 5pm-6pm\, COMPUTER BASICS: Come learn the basics of how to use a computer\, or come prepared with advance questions of your own. This will be a mixture of prepared training as well as a chance to ask questions and get drop in computer help from a certified Computer Instructor. This project was funded by a grant from AARP. Registration is required. Register by calling 302-856-7958 OR register online (click this link to go to the library calendar\, click on the class on Thursdays\, 5pm to see the page where you register)\nLaurel Public Library\, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-7pm\, Jack’s Tech Talk: Technology assistance for patrons. Appointments are required.  Call 302-875-3184 or stop by the library to sign up.\nLewes Public Library\, free technology assistance the first and third Friday of each month from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on a drop-in basis. A staff member is available to assist with a variety of common technology questions. Topics include (but are not limited to): digital books\, email\, internet\, Microsoft Word and Excel\, texting\, and digital photos. Guests may bring their own devices such as e-readers\, tablets\, phones and computers—or utilize the library’s PC computers. No appointment is necessary\, and assistance is available on a first-come\, first-served basis. Participants are encouraged to bring relevant usernames\, passwords\, and login information. All ages are welcome.
