SUMMARY:Calendar Girls by Possum Point Players
DESCRIPTION:Possum Point Players 2022 presents\n\n \nCalendar Girls\n\n \nwritten by Tim Firth\n\nbased on the Miramax motion picture by Juliette Towhidi & Tim Firth\n\n \ndirected for PPP by Rebecca Craft\n\n \nFridays SEP 16 and SEP 23 at 7:30p\n\nSaturdays SEP 17 and SEP 24 at 7:30p\n\nSundays  SEP 18 and SEP 25 at 2:00p\n\n \nTickets – $22 Adult; $20 Senior / Student\n\nPossum Hall / 441 Old Laurel Rd / Georgetown\, DE\n\n \n\nABOUT THE SHOW… \nWhen Annie’s husband John dies of leukemia\, she and her long-standing best friend Chris resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. With varying levels of encouragement\, they persuade four friends and fellow members of the Women’s Institute (W.I.) to pose nude with them for an “alternative” calendar. \nThey are assisted by hospital porter and amateur photographer Lawrence\, who looked after John in his final days. This is much to the horror of their local W.I. chairman\, Marie. \nThe success of the calendar goes beyond their wildest dreams and they have soon raised the money needed and much more. Their efforts also catch the attention of the national and international press\, who soon descend on the small village of Knapeley in the Yorkshire Dales. \nAlthough the calendar is a huge success\, Chris and Annie’s friendship is put to the test with their new-found fame and Chris is forced to question her real motivation behind doing the calendar. \nTim Firth’s hilarious play is based on the true story of eleven W.I. members who famously posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund in 1999. \n– – – – – \nCalendar Girls is presented through special arrangement with Concord Theatricals. \nAll pics and copy from the website: http://www.possumpointplayers.org/

SUMMARY:RBWG "FREE WRITES" non-members invited
DESCRIPTION:Weekly creative writing “FreeWrites” sponsored by the Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild are held at Millville Town Hall on Fridays 9 to 11 a.m. For details\, email our member Lynn Massey: Bookmom42@yahoo.com\n\n\nTHANKS PAUL MACFARLANE AND LYNN  MASSEY FOR SHARING THE OPPORTUNITY!!!\nFYI: Readers can reach out to share activities and events by emailing us Connect@DelawareRetiree.com\n\nSeveral times weekly RBWG members facilitate a FreeWrite open to all. Take a look at the options that suit you.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPer the RBWG website\, here are some details to explain more and give dates/times.\n“FreeWrite is the name given to an informal gathering of writers of ALL skill levels who meet to practice their writing in a friendly and nurturing atmosphere. The goal of the FreeWrites is to provide a place and an opportunity for people to have fun with their writing\, to explore different genres\, and to do this in the company of other writing enthusiasts. Each FreeWrite is facilitated by a Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild member who has experience in teaching\, writing and/or leading such groups. Participants write prose\, songs\, poetry and fiction\, work on novels during free writes\, and start short stories. Writing prompts are often (but not always) designed to focus on a particular aspect of writing: the use of sensory details\, the necessity of strong verbs\, the craft of writing dialogue.”\n\n\nI take myself by surprise. Writing at a FreeWrite! is like throwing a surprise party for yourself.  You never know what is going to spill out on your computer screen.  Is an evil twin lurking in the machinery? Or is it my fingers that somehow acquire access to long forgotten memories\, buried dreams and nightmares? No matter how many times I ask myself\, Where did that come from\,  No matter how many times I think I should have run out of surprises by now–something unexpected jumps out from where it’s been lurking behind a load of unpacked boxes in the basement of my mind.  I didn’t know I knew that\, I think.”\n—Sarah Barnett \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTraditional FreeWrites (visit the website for updates: FreeWrites)\nMondays \n8-10 a.m.\nRehoboth Beach Library (please use the back door).Carl Frey\, Joanne Sinsheimer\, and Tom Hoyer will alternate leading.
