SUMMARY:Rehoboth Beach Jewish Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR PREMIER SPONSOR: \n \nThe mission of this event is to deepen awareness of Jewish cultures and experiences\, and to explore community differences and commonalities through the art of film. \nThe individuals who make this event happen are the volunteer members of the Planning Committee who spend many hours watching numerous films\, discussing each film’s suitability for this event\, and then deciding on the final selection for your enjoyment. A special thanks to Helen Gates\, Marty Rosensweig\, Fran Saltzman\, and Steven Schaffer for their commitment\, time\, and support. \nClick here to view archives of RBJFF programs \nPLAN A\nView Screenings \n \nPlan A is a thrilling drama based on a true story about Max (August Diehl)\, a Jewish Holocaust survivor in 1945 Germany who meets a radical group of Jewish resistance fighters. They have lost all hope for their future after they were robbed of their existence and their entire families were killed by the Nazis. They dream of retaliation on an epic scale for the Jewish people. An eye for an eye\, a tooth for a tooth. Max starts identifying with the group’s dangerous and bold scheme named Plan A. [2021\, Germany\, 109 min\, Rated: NR]. \nThis screening is hosted by Marty Rosensweig. \nLocation: Cinema Art Theater \nAdmission \n\n$10.00 General\n\nClick on the desired screening times for tickets \n\n\n\n\nWed\nJun 01\n7:00 PM\n   Cinema Art Theater\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTIGER WITHIN\nView Screenings \n \nTiger Within is a compassionate drama featuring an unlikely friendship between a homeless anti-sematic teen in Los Angeles and a Holocaust survivor (Multiple Emmy Award-winning actor\, Ed Asner). The film sparks larger questions of fear\, forgiveness\, healing and world peace. [2020\, USA\, 98 min\, Rated: NR]. \nThis screening is hosted by Fran Saltzman. \nLocation: Cinema Art Theater \nAdmission \n\n$10.00 General\n\nClick on the desired screening times for tickets \n\n\n\n\nThu\nJun 02\n4:00 PM\n   Cinema Art Theater\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTHE LEVYS OF MONTICELLO\nView Screenings \n \nWhen Thomas Jefferson died in 1826\, he left behind a mountain of personal debt\, which forced his heirs to sell his beloved Monticello home and all of its possessions. The Levys of Monticello is a compelling documentary that tells the astonishing\, and little-known story of the Levy family\, which owned and carefully preserved Monticello for nearly a century – far longer than Jefferson or his descendants. The remarkable story of the Levy family also intersects with the rise of antisemitism that runs throughout the course of American history. This film is the Jury Prize Winner at the 2022 Atlanta Jewish Film Festival. [2021\, USA\, 72 min\, Rated: NR]. \nThis screening is hosted by Sara & Jeffrey Rosen \nDirector Steve Pressman (author and director of 50 Children: The Rescue Mission of Mr. and Mrs. Kraus and director of Holy Silence) will facilitate a post-screening audience discussion. \nLocation: Cinema Art Theater \nAdmission \n\n$10.00 General\n\nClick on the desired screening times for tickets \n\n\n\n\nThu\nJun 02\n7:00 PM\n   Cinema Art Theater\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLATTER DAY JEW\nView Screenings \n \nLatter Day Jew is an award-wining documentary feature film following H. Alan Scott\, a gay\, former Mormon\, converted Jew at age 31\, cancer survivor and writer-comedian\, as he finds his spiritual path and prepares for his Bar Mitzvah at age 35. The film will cover his Mormon upbringing\, eventual conversion to Judaism at age 31 and preparation for his Bar Mitzvah in the Fall of 2017. But before he can become a man in the eyes of Jewish law\, he wants to figure out what it means to be the best Jew he can be and even figure out what that means. LATTER DAY JEW chronicles his hilarious and often moving journey\, and in the process shows that spiritual and cultural identity is deeper than just what we are born into or what our families believed and taught us. [2020\, USA\, 85 min\, Rated: NR]. \nThis screening is hosted by Steve & Sue Schaffer \nLocation: Cinema Art Theater \nAdmission \n\n$10.00 General\n\nClick on the desired screening times for tickets \n\n\n\n\nFri\nJun 03\n1:00 PM\n   Cinema Art Theater\n\n\n\n\nquoted with permission: https://www.rehobothfilm.com/event/jewish-film-festival/

SUMMARY:CHSP Borrow a Bike\, Enjoy Cycling the Park to Warm Up on Winter Days!
DESCRIPTION:Winter Opening Hours  start November 1st\,  for the Bike Barn and\nNature Center:  Wednesday  thru Sunday ( closed  on Mondays & Tuesdays) 10am – 3pm  for the Barn\, 10am – 4pm Nature Center   Bikes can be borrowed for up to 2 hours weather permitting\, with last bikes out at 2 pm.  All bikes must be returned to the Bike Barn by 2:45 pm.\n We will be enforcing new procedures to ensure safety for our Bike Barn volunteers and visitors. This will include restricting access to the Bike Barn buildings – visitors will pick up and return bikes and helmets outside the Bike Barn.\n\n\nWe provide free loaner bikes…\nOne of the most popular activities provided by FOCHSP is” Borrow-a-Bike”. Here people can borrow a bike to ride within the park and see the sights for up to 2 hours…at no charge! That said\, we do gladly accept all donations to help us offset the cost of new bikes\, helmets and maintenance.  There is a  secure donation box  on the left front of the Barn.\nSince its start in 1997\, Borrow-a-Bike has always been operated entirely by volunteers and funded by donations. In 2014\, bikes were borrowed by around  13\,000 people and  that number  continues to  grow\, reaching more than 14\,000 in 2019\n \nBorrowers must complete the form provided inside the Nature Center and leave a photo-ID there for up to 5 riders\, prior to picking up bikes. \n Groups larger than 10 must  email or  call us ahead of time to schedule your  requirements  –  FOCHSP@gmail.com   302-858-6127 \n\nAll riders under 18 must wear helmets.\nOrange cones will be placed at 6-foot intervals; groups must stay at the next available cone until it is their turn to pick up bikes.\nBikes will be available for pickup at the bike racks located between the Nature Center and Bike Barn.\nBikes and helmets are to be returned on the opposite side of the Bike Barn.\nBikes must stay on trails and in the Park at all times\nBikes must be returned within 2 hours\, but no later than 2:45 p.m.\nPlease check back here regularly as days and hours of operation may be subject to change\n\n\nFind more great park info: https://destateparks.com/Beaches/CapeHenlopen\nThe Story of Borrow-A- Bike \nThe Borrow-A-Bike program began with a plan in 1997 and has always been operated by volunteers. In 1999\, a $3\,000 grant from The Delaware Bicycle Council enabled the purchase of 15 bikes that were housed in a shed built by the Lion’s Club. Additional donations — including $1\,000 from Dupont — increased the program to 35 bicycles operated from a new shed supplied by the Friends. The current “Bike Barn”  which stands next to the Nature Center was built from scratch in 2009 by Friends volunteers under the leadership of Stan Lemiska\, Chuck Moore\, and Carl Lofgren. Today\, the program includes  more than 40 adult  bicycles\, including 2 with baby carriers\, 12 children’s bicycles\, and  2 double baby trailers.  Due to the  popularity of the program a second  Bike Barn has recently  been built  behind the existing one. This will also  free up much needed space  for the ongoing maintenance  and repairs of the bikes. \nInterested in Volunteering?  \nWe always need  volunteers to  act as “ambassadors”  who help  our visitors select the right bike for their needs\, and/or  as mechanics to service and make running repairs  to our fleet.   If you would like to volunteer and want to know more about what is involved  please stop by the Barn  which is next to the Nature Center anytime we are open \,  or  go to “contact us” on this site and   call or email us.  You will receive a very warm welcome to our group for however much or little time you are able to give.\nInfo and pics from Friends of CHSP website
