In 1949\, Howard Schroeder started the Open Studio Sketch Group to give artists an opportunity to gather once a week to sketch or paint live models\, an idea inspired by a group he had belonged to as an artist in New York City\, his birthplace. The group remains active today and is open to interested artists by reservation. The group meets in the Chambers Studio from 7pm – 9:30pm each Thursday.\n\n\nHOWARD SCHROEDER SKETCH GROUP\n\nTo receive the Sketch Group weekly invitation\, contact the Education Programs Director at 302-227-8408 x112.\n\nLearn more about all our open studios: https://www.rehobothartleague.org/education/open-studios/”\n\n\nIN FACT\, there are SEVERAL OPEN STUDIOS you may want to consider\n\n\n“The Rehoboth Art League offers a variety of Open Studios to those whose memberships with the league are current. These venues\, which currently include photography\, pottery\, painting and drawing\, and creative writing\, offer an open\, unstructured working environment for people to develop their creative process among their peers. No instruction is provided. Artists are asked to bring their own supplies and to work independently.” \nOPEN PRINT STUDIO\n“The Open Print Studio is the art league’s digital venue for fine art photographers\, as well as artists interested in making reproductions of their work. Monitored by trained members of the Coastal Camera Club\, the art league’s Print Studio allows photographers access to color correct\, edit\, and print images on a variety of fine photographic papers. Adjust your images on your home computer\, or have a studio monitor assist you in the lab prior to printing here. Members’ accessing the Print Studio are responsible for a nominal studio fee ($2 per hour) as well as the cost of any paper and materials purchased. Open Print Studio is available to RAL members and/or Coastal Camera Club members by appointment. Contact printstudio@coastalcameraclub.com for an appointment.” \n\n\nOPEN POTTERY STUDIO\n“The Rehoboth Art League’s well-developed Pottery Studio and School has everything you need to create ceramic art—from available wheels to a hand building room\, and from a wide selection of glazes to several kilns for firing work. There is a charge of $2.00 per hour (maximum of $10 per day) to participate. Clay is available for purchase and each bag purchased includes glazing and firing. Open Pottery Studio usually takes place on Monday\, Tuesday\, Thursday\, and Friday from 10am — 4pm and Sunday from noon — 4pm. Times may change if there is a class or workshop scheduled. The goal of the FreeWrites is to provide a place and an opportunity for people to have fun with their writing\, to explore different genres\, and to do this in the company of other writing enthusiasts. Each FreeWrite is facilitated by a Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild member who has experience in teaching\, writing and/or leading such groups. Participants write prose\, songs\, poetry and fiction\, work on novels during free writes\, and start short stories. Writing prompts are often (but not always) designed to focus on a particular aspect of writing: the use of sensory details\, the necessity of strong verbs\, the craft of writing dialogue.”\n\n\nI take myself by surprise. Writing at a FreeWrite! is like throwing a surprise party for yourself.  You never know what is going to spill out on your computer screen.  Is an evil twin lurking in the machinery? Or is it my fingers that somehow acquire access to long forgotten memories\, buried dreams and nightmares? No matter how many times I ask myself\, Where did that come from\,  No matter how many times I think I should have run out of surprises by now–something unexpected jumps out from where it’s been lurking behind a load of unpacked boxes in the basement of my mind.  I didn’t know I knew that\, I think.”\n—Sarah Barnett \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMORE LOCAL OPPORTUNITIES TO WRITE\nTraditional FreeWrites \n(visit the website for updates: FreeWrites)–and please note holiday dates when classes will not be held\nMondays \n8-10 a.m.\nRehoboth Beach Library (please use the back door).Carl Frey\, Joanne Sinsheimer\, and Tom Hoyer will alternate leading. Take a look at the options that suit you.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPer the RBWG website\, here are some details to explain more and give dates/times.\n“FreeWrite is the name given to an informal gathering of writers of ALL skill levels who meet to practice their writing in a friendly and nurturing atmosphere. SUMMARY:27th Annual Lewes British Car Show
DESCRIPTION:27th Annual Lewes British Motorcar Show 2023 \nWelcome to the 27th Annual Lewes British Motorcar Show. This year’s show is again overlooking the Delaware Bay and Lewes Cape May Ferry. \nAbout this Event \nThe British Are Coming…Once Again! \nTwenty-seven years is an amazing milestone for the Lewes British Motorcar Show\, sponsored by the Lewes Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the British Car Club of Delaware. The show will take place on the grounds of the Lewes Ferry Terminal for the Cape May-Lewes Ferry\, overlooking the Delaware Bay. \nIn addition to welcoming Future British Classics\, British cars 2001 and newer\, we will also be celebrating the 100th Anniversary of MG. Let’s face it\, The MG marque is so iconic\, we all either had an MG ourselves\, or had a family member\, friend\, neighbor\, or school mate who did. The show will be a great opportunity to share MG and other British stories with other car owners and spectators. \nWhile there will be much to see at the show\, visitors are encouraged to take advantage of historic downtown Lewes\, home to a wonderful number of shops and restaurants\, as well as all that the Delaware beach area has to offer. \nRegistration this year is electronic only through Eventbrite. \n \nOn show day Food and beverages will be available for purchase on site\, courtesy of Grain On the Rocks\, the new chic dining spot within the Ferry Terminal. Grain has graciously agreed to offer specials for show car registrants. \nThe Friday evening Meet & Greet / Cruise in was an overwhelming success and back once again! For those interested\, the “Meet & Greet” at Grain on the Rocks the evening before\, Friday evening May 5th from 5-7 pm at the Dogfish Head Picnic Area. The Meet & Greet at Grain on the Rocks is open to ALL BRITISH CARS and their owners of course. So\, cruise on down with your British car of any year\, whether local or from out of town. Of course\, food and drinks can be purchased at the bar. Attendance is limited. Registration will be free\, but we do need to keep close tabs on the registrations given limited space in the picnic area \, so please be gracious and not to reserve a ticket if you are not going to use. In the event you must cancel. please make sure to let us know. Invitations will be sent shortly. \nClass trophies\, awarded by our esteemed show judges\, will be presented at the conclusion of the show. \nShow details: \n\nField opens at 8:30 am\, with entry no later than 10:30 for the show field. Since this is a high pedestrian traffic area\, please be aware that for everyone’s safety\, vehicles may not leave the field during the official show hours\, from 11:00a-3:00p.\n\n\nCar registration is $35.00 in advance. Onsite registration is NOT guaranteed. Last year’s show was sold out well in advance. Onsite registration (if available) will be $40. There is a small convenience fee added by Eventbrite for online registration. Since space is limited on the show field\, advanced registration is highly recommended.\n\n\nRegistration includes admission for driver and a passenger. Additional passengers and spectator admission for the show is $5.00. Kids 12 and under are free.\n\n\nWinners will be announced at 2:15 pm.\n\n\nWinners must be present to receive their awards.\n\n\nPlease remember prominent “For Sale” signs are not permitted in or on show cars.\n\n\nSince space is limited\, please remember to register early! 100 vehicles model year 2000 or older are eligible to register. The Future British Classics 2001 and newer are limited to 20 vehicles. Everyone is encouraged to drive their British car to the show regardless.\n\n\nThis year we have a Rain Date of Sunday May 7th. In the even both days have inclimate weather it will be considered a “Rain or Shine” event; registration fees are non-refundable.\n\nIf you are planning on riding the Ferry from Cape May to attend the show\, The Cape May – Lewes Ferry (DRBA) has graciously offered a significant discount for both vehicles and pedestrians attending the show. \n  \n\n\n  \nAlso check out other Workshops in Lewes\, Trips & Adventurous Activities in Lewes\, Kids Events & Activities in Lewes. \n\nTickets \n\nTickets for 27th Annual Lewes British Motorcar Show 2023 can be booked here. \nGet Tickets
