SUMMARY:Inaugural Fort Miles “Run Through History” 5K Run/Walk
DESCRIPTION:Plan on taking part in Fort Miles inaugural “Run Through History” 5K Run Walk on Sunday May 7\, 2023 at Cape Henlopen State Park.  The race’s start time is at 9:00 a.m. followed by a post-race party at The Overlook\, the Fort Miles unique events venue overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.  The after party will be hosted by Big Oyster Brewery and feature light food and beverages.\n \nProceeds from the “Run Through History” 5K Run Walk benefit Fort Miles Museum.  Fort Miles Museum shares personal stories of defending coastal Delaware by US military forces and civilians\, and how their actions shaped and influenced community life in Delaware. The Museum is housed in a unique WWII coastal battery complex that served an important role in WWII\, the Cold War period and beyond. DESCRIPTION:The Bob Powell Memorial Car Show is sponsored by the members of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company to honor a lifelong member who passed away on January 17\, 2022. Bob had a passion for antique cars\, especially his 1966 Bonneville Convertible and 1964 Grand Prix. He was a 30-year member of the Pontiac-Oakland Club International and was instrumental in establishing the Delmarva Chapter. \nWe would like to honor Bob and his love for antique cars by holding an annual car show in his memory. \nWe will be having a 50/50\, Chinese Auction\, Raffle\, Lotto scratch-offs\, door prizes\, and T-shirt sales. \nCar show participants and vendor participants are $10 each. \nBreakfast and Lunch will be available to purchase. DESCRIPTION:Put a spring in your step with Astonishing Sculptures\, Scavenger Hunt & Springtime delights! \nWe invite you to join us and enjoy the truly unique experience of Grounds For Sculpture. \nGrounds For Sculpture was founded by artist and philanthropist Seward Johnson(of the Johnson & Johnson family). It opened in 1992 on the former New Jersey State Fairgrounds and was a natural extension of its predecessor\, The Johnson Atelier. Hundreds of artists studied and produced work at the Atelier\, and Johnson saw the potential of the neighboring bygone fairgrounds as a place where artwork could be sited within the landscape\, and visitors could delight in discovering contemporary sculpture. \nMore than 700 artists have had their work on view here. The collection contains sculpture by 150 artists\, including Clement Meadmore\, Anthony Caro\, Beverly Pepper\, Kiki Smith\, George Segal\, Magdalena Abakanowicz\, Isaac Witkin\, Joyce J. Scott\, Willie Cole\, and founder Seward Johnson.
