SUMMARY:Beta Test at Cinema Art Theater
DESCRIPTION:View Screenings \n \n  \nThe Beta Test is a darkly satirical thriller about a married man who becomes ensnared in a sinister world of lying\, murder\, and infidelity. \nThe picture of Hollywood success\, LA talent agent Jordan (the film’s co-writer\, co-director\, and leading man Jim Cummings\, Thunder Road) seems to have it all – the snazzy career\, the Ken-doll good looks\, the lovely woman (Virginia Newcomb\, The Office\, Walking Dead). When a purple envelope mysteriously appears in his mailbox inviting him to an anonymous tryst\, the cracks in his carefully constructed façade of perfection begin to spread. Defenseless to resist\, he indulges in a wild night of overwhelming passion\, only to find his life slowly but surely coming undone in the aftermath. Increasingly embroiled in a web of deceit\, Jordan falls ever deeper down a rabbit hole of suspicion and conspiracy\, while desperately trying to keep up appearances. [2021\, US\, 94 min\, Rated: NR] \nHope Madden of the Maddwolf pens\, “It’s a deceptively layered performance at the center of a biting piece of social commentary.” Jordan King of Empire Magazine remarks\, “Whilst occasionally breathless to the point of exhausting\, there’s nothing second-rate about The Beta Test\, a sharp satire on the film industry that really packs a punch.” \n\n\n\n\n\nIf you’re looking for a sharp\, witty\, thought-provoking thriller\, you’ll do no better than The Beta Test\, a whip-smart\, pitch black comedy from the writing/directing team of Jim Cummings and PJ McCabe. This is the third film by the pair\, and like their first two films\, Thunder Road and The Wolf of Snow Hollow\, this one also focuses on a man whose life isn’t just spinning out of control—it’s positively whirling out of orbit. Cummings stars as Jordan\, a Los Angeles talent agency executive who\, although he’s about to get married\, makes a very bad decision—following through on an invitation to an anonymous sexual tryst in a Los Angeles hotel room. There’s mystery\, there’s bloodshed\, and there’s an inevitable reckoning up ahead\, but Cummings and McCabe are after a lot more than cheap\, fun thrills. The Beta Test skewers our society’s cult of personality\, our 24-hour demand for new forms of stimulation\, and\, in general\, the triumph of superficiality that’s identified specifically with Los Angeles here—but if we’re honest\, we’ll recognize as a stain that’s spreading throughout our culture. There are plenty of dark laughs in The Beta Test\, but they are laughs of nervous recognition. .\n\n\n\n\n  \n  \nPlease note that tickets are non-refundable and may not be exchanged for other screening dates/times or film title. \n  \nLocation: Cinema Art Theater \nAdmission \n\n$8.00 RBFS Members\n$11.00 General\n\nClick on the desired screening times for tickets \n\n\n\n\nFri\nNov 12\n2:30 PM\n   Cinema Art Theater\n\n\n\nSat\nNov 13\n5:30 PM\n   Cinema Art Theater\n\n\n\nSun\nNov 14\n2:00 PM\n   Cinema Art Theater\n\n\n\nMon\nNov 15\n1:30 PM\n   Cinema Art Theater\n\n\n\nWed\nNov 17\n5:30 PM\n   Cinema Art Theater\n\n\n\n\n \nposted with permission from Rehoboth Film Society website

SUMMARY:Sussex County Annual Food Drive
DESCRIPTION:“The 38th annual food drive kicks off [Nov 1] and runs through the end of December. The public is asked to do their part to “Pack the Pod” – a 14-foot by 7-foot portable storage shed that will be set up at The Circle later this month – with donated food items. \nIn 2019\, before the pandemic\, the drive collected nearly 30\,000 items for local food pantries. Since its inception in the 1980s\, Caroling on The Circle [‘kick off event’] has raised nearly 750\,000 food items. \nCounty Administrator Todd F. Lawson said Caroling on The Circle helps bring the community closer\, a familiar theme especially in the past year and a half as communities across the nation and around the world have worked together to overcome the challenges caused or heightened by the coronavirus pandemic. \n“The last couple of years have changed the world in so many ways\, right down to our personal routines and how we live our day-to-day lives\,” Mr. Lawson said. “What hasn’t changed\, though\, is that giving spirit that has always been so strong in Sussex County\, and made this community so special. We didn’t need a pandemic to prove that to ourselves. It’s on display every day in this community\, and I’m proud that we are able to continue that tradition with Caroling on The Circle and the ‘Pack the Pod’ food drive this year.” \nDonations of food items can be dropped off from now until the end of December\, at the County Administrative Offices building\, next to the courthouse\, in Georgetown. Receptacles will be available outside the County complex\, allowing the public to make ‘no contact’ drops 24 hours a day throughout the holiday season. Staff will routinely collect items and ‘Pack the Pod’ before delivering food to pantries. \nFor more information\, call (302) 855-7700.” info from website: https://sussexcountyde.gov/news/sussex-county-kicks-annual-food-drive-announces-caroling-circle-return \nDrop off non-perishables at Administrative Offices in outdoor receptacles.

The broad-based committee\, chaired by event founder Lewes Mayor Ted Becker\, includes Lewes in Bloom co-chairs and founder\, a representative from City of Lewes Parks and Recreation Commission and the Zwaanendael Museum. This year Lewes in Bloom funded the purchase of 26\,931 tulip and 3\,950 spring bulbs that were planted in fall 2021 by members of Lewes in Bloom.\nThe timing of the tulips’ appearance is an inexact science and either milder or colder weather in advance of the event dates can increase the probability that the dates of the celebration may not exactly coincide with the tulips blooming! The event dates (April 1-17) span three weekends. \nThe locations of the plantings will be identified on the map produced in association with the celebration. More than 100 varieties will be on display. \nTiptoe To The Tulips Map: The event organizers created the Tiptoe To The Tulips Map that will be available in late March at the Lewes Chamber of Commerce’s Visitor Center located in the historic Fisher-Martin House in Zwaanendael Park. The visitor center is open Monday – Friday\, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.  Copies of the map will be available at brochure boxes throughout the historic commercial district. The map lists more than 20 locations where the bulbs were planted. The tour cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Purchase tickets at www.historiclewes.org/visit/tours/html. \nFloral demonstrations and tulip sales: Ken Norman\, owner/designer at Floral Inspirations\, located on the beach side of the canal at 524 E.

SUMMARY:Lewes Tulip Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Lewes Tulip Celebration\, Celebrating our Dutch Heritage\nVarious sites throughout Lewes \n\nTiptoe to the Tulips Map\nPlant & Flower Sales\nHistory in Bloom Walking Tours\nFloral Demonstrations\nArt Exhibitions\n\nSponsored by Lewes in Bloom\, Lewes Chamber of Commerce\,  City of Lewes\, Lewes Historical Society and Southern Delaware Tourism\nFor information\, call 302 645-8073 or visit www.leweschamber.com \n13th ANNUAL LEWES TULIP CELEBRATION BLOOMS APRIL 1 – 17\, 2022 \nThe 13th  annual Lewes Tulip Celebration\, jointly sponsored by the Lewes Chamber of Commerce and Lewes in Bloom\, will be blossoming April 1 – 17\, 2022. It also has a schedule of activities associated with the Tulip Celebration. \nTulip Sale: On April 15 & 16 Lewes in Bloom will be selling tulips at the Bank Street Plaza on Second Street from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. \nHistory in Bloom Walking Tours: The Lewes Historical Society and Lewes in Bloom are partnering to offer walking tours on Saturday\, April 2nd and Saturday\, April 9th at 10:30 a.m.\, 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.  The tours will be led by a historic guide and will provide information on Lewes’ rich maritime history.  A knowledgeable guide from Lewes in Bloom will be on the tour to point out the multiple tulip varieties found around Lewes.  The tours begin at the Cannonball House’s back garden\, behind 118 Front Street.
