SUMMARY:CHSP Borrow a Bike\, Enjoy Cycling the Park to Warm Up on Winter Days!
DESCRIPTION:Winter Opening Hours  start November 1st\,  for the Bike Barn and\nNature Center:  Wednesday  thru Sunday ( closed  on Mondays & Tuesdays) 10am – 3pm  for the Barn\, 10am – 4pm Nature Center   Bikes can be borrowed for up to 2 hours weather permitting\, with last bikes out at 2 pm.  All bikes must be returned to the Bike Barn by 2:45 pm.\n We will be enforcing new procedures to ensure safety for our Bike Barn volunteers and visitors. This will include restricting access to the Bike Barn buildings – visitors will pick up and return bikes and helmets outside the Bike Barn.\n\n\nWe provide free loaner bikes…\nOne of the most popular activities provided by FOCHSP is” Borrow-a-Bike”. Here people can borrow a bike to ride within the park and see the sights for up to 2 hours…at no charge! That said\, we do gladly accept all donations to help us offset the cost of new bikes\, helmets and maintenance.  There is a  secure donation box  on the left front of the Barn.\nSince its start in 1997\, Borrow-a-Bike has always been operated entirely by volunteers and funded by donations. In 2014\, bikes were borrowed by around  13\,000 people and  that number  continues to  grow\, reaching more than 14\,000 in 2019\n \nBorrowers must complete the form provided inside the Nature Center and leave a photo-ID there for up to 5 riders\, prior to picking up bikes. \n Groups larger than 10 must  email or  call us ahead of time to schedule your  requirements  –  FOCHSP@gmail.com   302-858-6127 \n\nAll riders under 18 must wear helmets.\nOrange cones will be placed at 6-foot intervals; groups must stay at the next available cone until it is their turn to pick up bikes.\nBikes will be available for pickup at the bike racks located between the Nature Center and Bike Barn.\nBikes and helmets are to be returned on the opposite side of the Bike Barn.\nBikes must stay on trails and in the Park at all times\nBikes must be returned within 2 hours\, but no later than 2:45 p.m.\nPlease check back here regularly as days and hours of operation may be subject to change\n\n\nFind more great park info: https://destateparks.com/Beaches/CapeHenlopen\nThe Story of Borrow-A- Bike \nThe Borrow-A-Bike program began with a plan in 1997 and has always been operated by volunteers. In 1999\, a $3\,000 grant from The Delaware Bicycle Council enabled the purchase of 15 bikes that were housed in a shed built by the Lion’s Club. Additional donations — including $1\,000 from Dupont — increased the program to 35 bicycles operated from a new shed supplied by the Friends. The current “Bike Barn”  which stands next to the Nature Center was built from scratch in 2009 by Friends volunteers under the leadership of Stan Lemiska\, Chuck Moore\, and Carl Lofgren. Today\, the program includes  more than 40 adult  bicycles\, including 2 with baby carriers\, 12 children’s bicycles\, and  2 double baby trailers.  Due to the  popularity of the program a second  Bike Barn has recently  been built  behind the existing one. This will also  free up much needed space  for the ongoing maintenance  and repairs of the bikes. \nInterested in Volunteering?  \nWe always need  volunteers to  act as “ambassadors”  who help  our visitors select the right bike for their needs\, and/or  as mechanics to service and make running repairs  to our fleet.   If you would like to volunteer and want to know more about what is involved  please stop by the Barn  which is next to the Nature Center anytime we are open \,  or  go to “contact us” on this site and   call or email us.  You will receive a very warm welcome to our group for however much or little time you are able to give.\n​Info and pics from Friends of CHSP website

The goal of this service is to alleviate parking and traffic congestion on city streets\, help with the parking challenges throughout the city and provide increased circulation to services and businesses. \n\nThe Lewes Line transit service begins Monday\, May 23rd\, and will operate seven days a week through September 30th. Each bus can accommodate 12 walk-on passengers and 2 handicapped passengers.\n\nHours: 9am – 9pm\nCost: $1 cash (credit cards are not accepted and change is not available) \nTiming: Each stop will be served once every half hour\nFrequent Rider:  Cards are available and can be purchased from the bus driver. The fee for each card is $10 for 12 rides. Cards can be used the entire season.  No refunds will be given for unused rides and these cards have no cash value.\n\n\nBus will pick up passengers at these designated locations:\n  – Cape May Lewes Ferry Terminal\n  – Johnnie Walker Beach\n  – Savannah Beach\n\n– Second & Market Streets  – Otis Smith Lot\n  – George H.P. DESCRIPTION:Each Sunday\, 1-4pm we enjoy LIVE MUSIC \nCheck out the calendar to see who’s playing: Click here \nTables are filled on a walk-in\, first come first serve basis. Please place your menu orders from our friendly staff members at our inside service bar(s) and when open\, the outside patio bar. Please be courteous of other guests and clean up tables used before leaving and do not move tables. \n\nFollowing the recommendations of the CDC and the state of Delaware\, we are not longer requiring vaccinated guests wear masks. We do understand that some guests may not feel comfortable yet or received the vaccination\, so please let our staff know your level of comfort! \nOutside non-alcoholic beverages in sealed containers are welcome. Please do not bring beverages that are in re-usable containers like Tervis Tumblers since we are unable to determine the contents. You are welcome to bring in your own food. Please be courteous and clean up tables when you are finished with them (thank you!)\nYou are more than welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets for outdoor use. \nSmoking is not permitted anywhere on the property.

SUMMARY:Nassau Valley Farmers Market
DESCRIPTION:  Every Sunday from 12-3 Nassau Valley Vineyards hosts one of the area’s best Farmers Markets around! With live music every week\, featuring artists such as Jr. Wilson and Chatty\, Matt Lafferty\, Hot Sauce\, Keith Mack\, Ed Shockley and many more! We have a full sangria bar made with Nassau’s very own wines\, and some of the locals’ best vendors on site! It’s a fun time for all! Shop for local produce\, honey\, jams\, arts and crafts\, and more! Bring a chair\, or grab one of ours and just kick back to relax while listening to some solid tunes\, enjoying great food from one of our on-premise vendors\, and sipping on a nice glass of locally made wine or sangria.  Children and families welcome! Dogs are not permitted within the Market areas or the Winery buildings\, but you are free to walk with them outside of those premises or sit at the picnic tables with them\, on-leash.  We look forward to seeing you there! \nPlease note the following for wine tasting at Nassau Valley. Delaware law now requires that tasting service must be done fifteen minutes before closing time. If you plan to come for tasting you must be here by 4:30pm. We are also in peak wedding season from April thru November. Sometimes we have to close early for a wedding.
