Crowds of over 300 people enjoyed the evening events on the beach in 2021; the Chamber hopes the 2022 season will see the same great success! Gratitude and thanks go to Weis Markets\, Movies & Bonfires Sponsor\, for their continued support of these weekly events; allowing the movies to keep rolling and the bonfires to keep burning.  Also\, a large thanks goes to the Town of Dewey B \neach who will once again offer FREE PARKING IN DEWEY BEACH\, Monday-Wednesday\, 5 – 11 PM. \nMovies start at approximately 8:30 PM on the beach at Dagsworthy Ave. in Dewey Beach. DESCRIPTION:Daily Beach Bus Service until September 11th\n\n  \nBus Service from the Lewes Park and Ride: see attached schedule \nDownload the PDF: DART SCHEDULE \n  \n\n\n\n\n\nThe City is excited to announce…Lewes Line…a pilot seasonal transit program to transport residents and visitors to designated key locations throughout the City. The goal of this service is to alleviate parking and traffic congestion on city streets\, help with the parking challenges throughout the city and provide increased circulation to services and businesses. \n\nThe Lewes Line transit service begins Monday\, May 23rd\, and will operate seven days a week through September 30th. Each bus can accommodate 12 walk-on passengers and 2 handicapped passengers.\n\nHours: 9am – 9pm\nCost: $1 cash (credit cards are not accepted and change is not available) \nTiming: Each stop will be served once every half hour\nFrequent Rider:  Cards are available and can be purchased from the bus driver. The fee for each card is $10 for 12 rides. Cards can be used the entire season.  No refunds will be given for unused rides and these cards have no cash value.\n\n\nBus will pick up passengers at these designated locations:\n  – Cape May Lewes Ferry Terminal\n  – Johnnie Walker Beach\n  – Savannah Beach\n\n– Second & Market Streets  – Otis Smith Lot\n  – George H.P. Also fundraising to help parents of special needs children with this year’s upcoming school supplies\, clothes\, and other expenses they may encounter.\n\nCHECK OUT THE PRESS RELEASE:\n\n\nThe first annual memorial fundraiser for the organization\, “Run\, Saniyah\, Run” will take place on Sunday\, July 31\, 3pm until 5pm at Milton’s Memorial Park.\n\nA new organization\, aptly named “Run\, Saniyah\, Run” is a memorial tribute to a severely disabled young girl\, Saniyah. As reported in an April issue of the Cape Gazette\, Saniyah had a brief but meaningful life\, passing away at the tender age of 11. \n\nSaniyah had several disabilities that most parents thankfully will never bear. \n\nHer mother\, Gia Ruffin began a mission after Saniyah’s passing\, aptly named “Run\, Saniyah Run\,” a nod to how\, despite her severe situation\, Saniyah was quite literally on the move\, no matter her obstacles. She was encouraged by her siblings to run\, because despite her disabilities\, it’s what she strived to do. That’s how much her energy had an effect on others.\n\nRuffin believes that – and has put into action – parents of disabled children have special needs themselves. Carpools\, doctors’ appointments\, educational concerns and more\, there are parents dealing with the stress of not only their own lives and perhaps that of their other children. \n\nRun Saniyah Run is now a 501 c 3 organization\, meaning it is a nonprofit organization with a meaningful mission. It is her mother’s intent to help other parents cope with the stress of raising a child under unusual and taxing circumstances. Often\, parents are on their own to figure out logistics\, often relying on family\, friends and neighbors to adequately tend to the child’s needs.\n\nGia Ruffin\, mother to Saniyah relied on several people\, including her own other children to juggle those stresses. She now wants to grow an organization that addresses the parents’ need – not just those of the child.\n\nOn Sunday\, July 31\, from 3-5 pm\, there will be a fundraising and awareness event that will kick off these efforts in Saniyah’s name.
