SUMMARY:Looking for a chance to make a difference? Volunteer with DBCC
DESCRIPTION:Help Us Today \n\n\n\nThe Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition has a variety of ways to engage volunteers.  How you volunteer with DBCC may depend on the amount of time you have available\, your availability in the daytime or evenings\, and the special skills and talents you may have to lend to DBCC. We will try to match your interests with our volunteer needs\, which vary throughout the year. \nSeptember\, and specifically October\, tend to be busy times when we have more volunteer opportunities. The rest of the year is filled with various outreach opportunities\, special events\, educational needs\, and more.  We value our volunteers and want to make sure each and every opportunity is worth their time and dedication.  Our volunteers help us to extend the “reach” of DBCC. We couldn’t do it without them! \nSome of the specific opportunities that we have include: \nOffice / Mailings\n\n  \n\nHelp assemble mailings.\nPut together agency informational folders for doctors/hospitals.\nHelp sort inventory\, specifically the Go Pink! shirt partnership.\nAssemble goodie bags for events/partnerships.\n\nOutreach / Health Fairs\n\n\nAttend Health Fairs/Community Events with staff member(s) to man the DBCC table.\n\nPass out information.\nTalk to attendees about breast health\, early detection\, DBCC programs and services.\n\n\nTalk to women in your community\, at church\, in the workplace.\nHelp cultivate new opportunities’ to showcase DBCC programs.\n\nBreast Health Presentation (BHP) / Survivor Story\n\nAttend a BHP with staff member(s) to be the survivor connection at the end.  Survivors share a brief synopsis of their story and answer questions about their breast cancer journey.\nGive a BHP presentation.\n\nMore details online: https://debreastcancer.org/about/volunteer/

Her effortless ability to belt out classic rhythm and blues renditions\, pop standards and spiritual sonnets has created the unique platform of versatility that the artist is known and revered for. \nFor more than 60 years\, Patti’s resplendent voice has left an indelible mark all over the world. This Philadelphia-born entertainer captured her first hit in 1962\, as lead singer of The Bluebelles and went on to receive worldwide acclaim with the trailblazing and genre-bending trio\, Labelle. A solo artist since the 1970s\, Patti has created timeless songs that have helped cement her place as a music icon and garnered her numerous honors\, including GRAMMY Awards\, American Music Awards\, NAACP Image Awards\, New York Times bestselling books and more. \nFrom music to film and television\, to books\, to her successful food and lifestyle brand\, Patti’s Good Life\, living legend Patti LaBelle has shown her diversity and continued to break down barriers as an artist\, entertainer\, actress\, author and entrepreneur. \n  \n\nThe great ones endure\, and Gladys Knight has long been one of the greatest. Very few singers over the last sixty years have matched her unassailable artistry. This seven-time Grammy Award-winner has enjoyed No. 1 hits in Pop\, Gospel\, R&B\, and Adult Contemporary\, and has triumphed in film\, television\, and live performance.  \nAll told\, Knight has recorded more than 38 albums over the years\, including four solo albums: “Good Woman” (1991); “Just for You” (1994); the inspirational “Many Different Roads” (1999); and “At Last” (2001).  “At Last” showed the world that she still has what it takes to record a hit album\, employing the talents of contemporary producers like Randy Jackson. \nKnight has continued to spread her acting wings\, making a guest star appearance in the FOX hit show “Star” and appearing in the film “Almost Christmas” in 2016\, both which were produced and directed by Lee Daniels.  She appeared on ABC’s 14th season of “Dancing With The Stars” in 2012. In 2019\, she competed on the inaugural season of “The Masked Singer” and sang the National Anthem at Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta.  Knight sang the National Anthem on yet another major sports stage at the 2021 NBA All-Star Game. This past 2022 holiday season she starred in “I’m Glad It’s Christmas” on Great American Family and received the 45th Kennedy Center Honors for Lifetime Artistic Achievements along with George Clooney\, Amy Grant\, Tania Leone and U2 in December.  In addition\, this past March she received the National Medal of Arts along with Julia Louis-Dreyfus\, Bruce Springsteen\, Jose Feliciano and Mindy Kaling.  This year she will be honored as a 2024 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree. \nHer involvement in other creative undertakings\, business ventures and humanitarian activities has been extensive\, and has brought her honors from industry and community alike. In 2015\, A portion of Atlanta’s State Route 9 from Peachtree Street to 14th Street was officially named Gladys Knight Highway. \nAll pics and info from the website
