SUMMARY:AARP Concert
DESCRIPTION:SODELO was founded as a string orchestra\, providing the first opportunity in southern Delaware for string musicians to come together and play orchestral music.  After four performances\, we will perform as a full orchestra for the first time on November 29!  We have reached out to winds and brass all over southern Delaware and have an amazing group of musicians to complement our strings\, including participants from existing ensembles like Delaware Winds and the Rehoboth Concert Band\, as well as top students from our schools!    We will play one more concert in the spring as a string orchestra\, and then continue to grow and refine our ensemble to allow us to play a much much larger repertoire together. \nWILMINGTON: It’s a bit of a drive\, but we wanted to let you know about this event.  We are performing with a vocal soloist in an event celebrating our new sponsor AARP’s top volunteer in Delaware.  We are so excited to be performing in this historic building!!  Tickets are free\, and going fast.  Please register here to reserve your tickets.

SUMMARY:Possum Point Players presents\, THE LIFE AND ADVENTURES OF SANTA CLAUS
DESCRIPTION:THE LIFE AND ADVENTURES OF SANTA CLAUS\n\n    by Pat Cook\n\n    based on the book by L. Frank Baum\n\n\n\nHave you ever wondered just where Santa Claus came from? L. Frank Baum knew. The same man who created The Wonderful Wizard of Oz lets us in on his secret: the story of Saint Nicholas as told to him by Necile\, the nymph who found Claus and raised him as her own in the world of Knooks\, Faeries\, Ryls and\, yes\, even the dreaded Awgwas.\n\n \n“Beware the Awgwas\,” Necile warns Claus. “they hide under beds to frighten human children!” And so Claus decides he must leave the world of the Immortals and live among the humans\, making toys to make children happy. He gets help from Jack Frost\, who shows him the Frost Gale\, allowing Claus and his sleigh to fly\, and from two runaway Knooks\, Lem and Barlo\, who want to hear the children laugh.\n\n \nThis delightful tale answers once and for all how Santa Claus made the first toy\, why he climbs down chimneys and\, most of all\, how he learned to laugh that great “Ho\, ho\, ho.”

Take a look at the options that suit you.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPer the RBWG website\, here are some details to explain more and give dates/times.\n“FreeWrite is the name given to an informal gathering of writers of ALL skill levels who meet to practice their writing in a friendly and nurturing atmosphere. The goal of the FreeWrites is to provide a place and an opportunity for people to have fun with their writing\, to explore different genres\, and to do this in the company of other writing enthusiasts. Each FreeWrite is facilitated by a Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild member who has experience in teaching\, writing and/or leading such groups. Participants write prose\, songs\, poetry and fiction\, work on novels during free writes\, and start short stories. Writing prompts are often (but not always) designed to focus on a particular aspect of writing: the use of sensory details\, the necessity of strong verbs\, the craft of writing dialogue.”\n\n\nI take myself by surprise. Writing at a FreeWrite! is like throwing a surprise party for yourself.  You never know what is going to spill out on your computer screen.  Is an evil twin lurking in the machinery? Or is it my fingers that somehow acquire access to long forgotten memories\, buried dreams and nightmares? No matter how many times I ask myself\, Where did that come from\,  No matter how many times I think I should have run out of surprises by now–something unexpected jumps out from where it’s been lurking behind a load of unpacked boxes in the basement of my mind.  I didn’t know I knew that\, I think.”\n—Sarah Barnett \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMORE LOCAL OPPORTUNITIES TO WRITE\nTraditional FreeWrites \n(visit the website for updates: FreeWrites)–and please note holiday dates when classes will not be held\nMondays \n8-10 a.m.\nRehoboth Beach Library (please use the back door).Carl Frey\, Joanne Sinsheimer\, and Tom Hoyer will alternate leading.

SUMMARY:New Zealand Pen Pal Program
DESCRIPTION:“Thanks to a partnership between South Coastal Library\, Kent County Library\, and Wellington City Libraries\, you can now have the opportunity to connect with a New Zealander! \n\nThis is a fun way to learn about another country and make a new friend. We handle all the international postage – you bring in and pick up your letters at the library. \n\nHow to sign up: \n\nFill out a registration form. Registration forms are available at the library and online. Click here to register online. Parental permission and signature is needed for anyone to participate under the age of 18. Please register all persons under 18 in person at the library.\nWait! After you are registered\, library staff will work to match you with your New Zealand pen pal! Please be patient.\nGet matched! You will be notified with the full name of your pen pal and some basic information. Please use their full name when addressing envelopes!\n\nHow the program works: \n\nWrite your letter and drop it off at your library. Be sure to address it clearly!\nWhen your letter arrives from New Zealand\, you’ll be notified! Just stop in to the library to pick it up!\nRespond to your pen pal and write another letter! Drop it off again and we’ll send it to New Zealand for you! Your return letter will come back to us\, just as before.\nWe will be sending and receiving monthly packages of letters! Continue your correspondence with your pen pal each month!\n\nWe encourage participants to use caution when/if including personal information in their letters.  \n\nThis event is usually weekly\, on Wednesdays–check for the latest updates on the LIBRARY CALENDAR: \nhttps://delawarelibraries.libcal.com/calendar/southcoastal?cid=9421&t=m&d=0000-00-00&cal=9421&inc=0
