SUMMARY:Clear Space Theatre Company presents The Prom
DESCRIPTION:Four eccentric Broadway stars are in desperate need of a new stage. So when they hear that trouble is brewing around a small-town prom\, they know that it’s time to put a spotlight on the issue…and themselves. The town’s parents want to keep the high school dance on the straight and narrow—but when one student just wants to bring her girlfriend to prom\, the entire town has a date with destiny. On a mission to transform lives\, Broadway’s brassiest join forces with a courageous girl and the town’s citizens. The result: a little bit of fun and a whole lot of love brings them together. Winner of the Drama Desk Award for Best Musical\, The Prom expertly captures all the humor and heart of a classic musical comedy with a message that resonates with audiences now more than ever. \nAll pics and in from the website

It is part of a growing environmental movement pioneering ways to save the land\, provide small farmers and small producers a way to stay in business\, and to educate our children about the food that we eat. \nIn addition to fresh produce\, eggs\, fruits\, breads\, baked goods\, meats\, fish\, cut-flowers and herbs\, the HLFM features workshops by local chefs (using food from the market)\, master gardeners\, wellness providers\, and sustainable agriculture experts. Best of all\, the market is a place where every Saturday and Wednesday mornings we meet our neighbors and make new friends\, making our community much stronger. \nPeople worldwide are rediscovering the benefits of buying local food. It is fresher than anything in the supermarket\, and that means that it tastes great and is more nutritious. It is also good for our local economy buying directly from family farmers and producers helps them keep their land. \n\n \n\n\n \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhy a Farmers Market in Lewes\, Delaware?\nThere have been numerous markets in and around the Lewes area for many decades. The historic square behind King’s Ice Cream (201 Second Street) has been documented as the site of an early market.  We have two locations in Lewes\, Delaware. Our Saturday market is located in the heart of Lewes\, Delaware\, and our Wednesday Market is also located in Lewes\, near Route 1. \nWhat is the HLFM Epworth Food Pantry Program?\nThe Historic Lewes Farmers (HLFM) partners with the Epworth United Methodist Church Food Pantry. HLFM customers who want to help feed the local community with fresh local food may purchase produce\, meats\, milk\, and other food from growers at the Market to donate to the Epworth program every Saturday. It’s so easy–all you have to do is let the vendor know what you want to donate or give $5\, $10\, $25 to the vendor and ask them to put together a selection for Epworth. You can also pre-order for Epworth from HLFM vendors that take pre-orders. At the end of the Market\, the produce and other foods are gathered and picked up by Epworth volunteers. We thank you for your generosity\, and if you have any questions\, please contact us: info@historiclewesfarmersmarket.org. \nWhat is the HLFM Gleaning Program?\nThe HLFM gleans (collects donations of extra produce) from the vendors at the end of each Saturday market\, organizes the produce\, and donates the excess produce to Casa San Francisco in Milton\, DE\, a charity which runs an Emergency Shelter\, a Food Cooperative and an Emergency Food Pantry. Over the past 13 years\, this program resulted in donations of over $55\,000 worth of fresh local food to Casa San Francisco. \n\n \n\n\n \n\nJoin Us!\nThe Historic Lewes Farmers Market needs volunteers. The volunteers help set up and take down the market every Saturday. They assist the chefs and others putting on market demonstrations\, and\, in general\, help the vendors during the market hours. You don’t need to have any expertise to volunteer. \nIf you’re interested in spending a few hours on a Saturday between May and November\, helping us at the market\, or want to volunteer to help us in other ways throughout the year\, please call us at 302-644-1436 or send an email to info@historiclewesfarmersmarket.org. \n

SUMMARY:St. Peter's 58th Annual Art Show
DESCRIPTION:ST. PETER’S 58TH ANNUAL ART SHOW \n\n\n\n\n“ART THAT GIVES” \n\n\n\n\nIn July 1966\, members of the St. Catherine’s Guild at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Lewes strung a clothesline across the wall in front of the church and invited local artists to display their works. St. Catherine’s was one of several guilds that women of St. Peter’s could join\, and its members held fundraising events throughout the year\, using the proceeds to pay for special church projects. The success of that first art show encouraged the women of St. Peter’s to repeat the event in subsequent years — and today\, the show is the parish’s major outreach activity\, involving the entire congregation\, with proceeds benefiting multiple community organizations. \nOver the years\, the focus has expanded from just paintings to include works in ceramics\, jewelry\, fiber\, glass\, wood\, metal\, and photography\, and the show now fills the streets surrounding the historic church as well as the adjacent M&T Bank parking lot. The show takes place on the first Saturday in July. \nSince the 1980s\, St. Peter’s has given the money raised to organizations that help people in need in the local area\, and this year will be no different.  The Community Resource Center in Rehoboth\, a ministry of the Lewes Rehoboth Association of Churches\, is a major beneficiary of the show. Aid is given regardless of race\, age\, sexual orientation\, color\, marital status\, creed\, national origin\, disability\, or religious affiliation. \nIt’s no wonder that the show’s motto is “Art that Gives.” \n\n\nAll pics and info from the website: Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church | Art Show (stpeterslewes.org)

SUMMARY:RAL- Cottage Tour
DESCRIPTION:2024 Cottage Tour Artist\nWe are pleased to announce that the 2024 Cottage Tour Artist is Rick Phillips: \nMy path as an artist has included sojourns into illustration\, advertising\, and design before finally emerging as a full-time fine artist and painter. \nI’ve created images for companies like Campbell Soup and TastyKake\, commissioned works for Bank of America and Glaxo SmithKline Pharmaceuticals\, and fine art for many private collections. \nCritics have said my style is reminiscent of 19th-century painters who used the richness of light and color to create an atmosphere that could almost be touched. Painting outdoors\, ‘en plein aire\,’ is almost a religious experience for me. In that surrounding\, I employ hard and soft edges selectively to develop the feeling of moisture\, wind\, and the warmth of the sun. \nIn the city\, in the country\, or working on a still life of antiques and florals\, I get to the heart of my subjects with loose and bravura brushstrokes\, elegant and evocative colors\, and a unique sense of mood. My portfolio includes images of barns\, fields\, and farmhouses as well as more nostalgic subjects like the rugged bicycles I remember as a child. My interest in interior design and gardening has also informed my art to be decorator-friendly as well. \nI am honored to be among a select few invited every year to exhibit at the famous Rittenhouse Square Fine Art Show in Philadelphia. I am also proud to have participated in a creative partnership between Pratt Institute in New York City and The Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington DC. A personal achievement was establishing the Darley Arts Center\, a gallery for visual artists\, and a center for art education and workshops. \nMy work can be found in the Square Pear Fine Art Gallery in Kennett Square\, PA\, and the Peninsula Fine Art Gallery in Lewes\, Delaware. —Rick Phillips \nTicket Sales\nThe ticket for the tour is a commemorative program booklet with an image and description of each home on the tour. Tickets are $40 per person (appropriate for ages 13 and above). After June 30\, tickets are only available at the Art League’s Henlopen Acres campus\, 12 Dodds Lane\, or at homes on the Cottage Tour. (Please note tickets previously purchased on the RAL website and by phone must be picked up at RAL.) \nTickets for the tour–payable by cash or check only–are also available at select local shops that support this event. Check back for a complete listing. Tickets for the tour are also available the day of the tour at any of the homes\, based on availability\, and the Rehoboth Art League. \nTransportation\nThis year parking is very limited at several of the house locations. Free parking will be available at Rehoboth Elementary School\, 500 Stockley Street. From this location\, the Rehoboth Art League is providing Jolly Trolley transportation for ticket holders. Shuttle service\, which will run continuous loops to all houses on the tour\, will begin running at 9:45 AM and continue until the tour’s end each day. Check the Jolly Trolley website on Tour days to track the route of each trolley in live time. \n  \nAll info and pics from the website.

SUMMARY:Farmers Market @ Lewes7
DESCRIPTION:Who We Are\n\n\nPhoto by Helaine Harris\nThe Historic Lewes Farmers Market (HLFM) is a non-profit\, community-based\, producer-only\, farmers market. Started in the summer of 2006 by a group of volunteers\, the market has expanded to 30 plus vendors. \nWhat is a Community-based\, Producer-Only Farmers Market and How is it Different?\nA community-based\, producer-only farmers market is not just another retail enterprise. \n
