SUMMARY:Coastal Camera Club presents 2023 “Virtual” Photo Beach Bash
DESCRIPTION:PRESS RELEASE\, Jan. 17\, 2023 \nLEWES\, DE — Technology in phones and digital cameras has made photography more accessible and ubiquitous in our lives. But despite digital photography making it easier and faster to capture and share images\, creativity and skill are still essential to producing memorable and effective photographs. \nTo help photographers of all skill levels and genres expand their creativity and hone their skills\, the Coastal Camera Club of Lewes will present a free two-day on-line event to expose participants to world-class photographers and tap into their wisdom. \nThe February 25-26\, “Virtual” Photo Beach Bash will feature exciting and informative presentations by renowned photographers Colleen Miniuk and Joe Edelman. \n“Our club exists today to encourage and promote interest in photography through education and participation in activities and competitions. The Photo Beach Bash was started in 2013 as an in-person event to enable us to share the joy of photography beyond the club\,” said club President Joanne Tramposch. \n“We’ve had an excellent lineup of speakers for every Photo Beach Bash\,” she said. “This year is no exception. We’re really excited about our presenters this year. Colleen Miniuk is a fabulous outdoor photographer who is going to talk about visualizing your photographs before you take them. And Joe Edleman\, who holds the title of Photographic Craftsman\, is going to talk about how to improve creativity in your photography\,” Tramposch said. \nThis event is free of charge\, but you must sign up in advance. \nThe schedule is as follows: \nSaturday\, Feb. 25 at 3 pm: Visualization: Picturing the Unique Possibilities with Colleen Miniuk\nWhen a scene excites us\, photographers often feel compelled to grab our cameras and shoot\, shoot\, shoot! Join Colleen Miniuk for an enlightening presentation on how visualizing your photograph before you begin photographing—whether at home or in the field—can help you record more effective and more meaningful images. \nShe’ll share what visualization is (and isn’t)\, and how visualization ties into the creative process. She will discuss how to approach landscapes with mindfulness\, and how to translate your ideas into pixels without a camera in your hands. In picturing your picture before you create it\, you’ll be on your way to deeper and more meaningful visual expressions. \nColleen Miniuk is a full-time freelance outdoor photographer\, writer\, publisher\, instructor\, and motivational speaker\, supporting a wide range of assignments for editorial and commercial clients. Specializing in nature and outdoor recreation\, her purpose as an outdoor communicator is to inspire and help others enjoy the Great Outdoors. \nBased in Chandler\, Arizona\, she began making photographs of the Western landscapes in 2001. Her publication credits include National Geographic calendars\, Arizona Highways\, AAA VIA\, On Landscape\, National Parks Traveler\, and a broad variety of other publications. \nSunday\, Feb. 26 at 3 pm: Understanding Creativity to improve Your Photography with Joe Edelman\nIf we all have the potential to be creative\, why is it so hard? In this fun and enlightening presentation\, we will explore some science behind creativity. Where does it come from? Are humans born with it\, or do they learn it? Is it possible to make yourself more creative? \nThe answers that are the results of research done by cognitive psychologists will surprise you\, frustrate you\, and excite you. \nArmed with a better understanding of how creativity works\, Joe will help us lay the foundation to be able to develop more creative skills and become a better\, more creative photographer\, with tips that will help you to see and think about your subjects in ways that you never have before. \nJoe Edelman is an award-winning photographer\, author\, and photo educator. His educational mission: “To help photographers to develop a solid understanding of the HOWS and WHYS behind creating great photographs.” Joe is honored to hold the title of Photographic Craftsman\, a designation given to those who have met the standards of excellence set by the Professional Photographers of America in recognition of service to the photographic profession as an orator\, author\, and mentor. He takes great pride in sharing his experience as the host of the weekly The LAST FRAME Live 60-minute photography Livestream that appears on YouTube. His channel boasts 300 +videos viewed over 11.8 million times by more than 180\,000 subscribers. \nRegistration for the Virtual Photo Beach Bash is online at: www.coastalcameraclub.com or directly at www.tinyurl.com/2023BeachBash\n“While we all are looking forward to returning to large\, in-person indoor gatherings\, the limitations imposed by the COVID pandemic actually have allowed us to offer this event to a broader audience by moving to a ‘virtual’ format\,” said Tramposch. “Prior to the pandemic\, the Photo Beach Bash was a one-day in-person learning experience at a local hotel. For the past two years\, we felt it was best to hold the event virtually. A wonderful consequence is that we have reached more than 500 people each year from not just from across the coastal Delaware region\, but from across the world.” \nAdditionally\, the move to virtual sessions has enabled the club to attract presenters without regard to geographic limitations. Edelman will be presenting from Pennsylvania and Miniuk from Arizona. \nThe Coastal Camera Club is a non-profit organization based in Lewes\, DE\, that aims to encourage and promote member interest in photography and facilitate the sharing of skills and experiences across the membership. The group holds contests and hosts guest speakers to enable members to improve their photographic knowledge and skill. Take a look at the options that suit you.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPer the RBWG website\, here are some details to explain more and give dates/times.\n“FreeWrite is the name given to an informal gathering of writers of ALL skill levels who meet to practice their writing in a friendly and nurturing atmosphere. The goal of the FreeWrites is to provide a place and an opportunity for people to have fun with their writing\, to explore different genres\, and to do this in the company of other writing enthusiasts. Each FreeWrite is facilitated by a Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild member who has experience in teaching\, writing and/or leading such groups. Participants write prose\, songs\, poetry and fiction\, work on novels during free writes\, and start short stories. Writing prompts are often (but not always) designed to focus on a particular aspect of writing: the use of sensory details\, the necessity of strong verbs\, the craft of writing dialogue.”\n\n\nI take myself by surprise. Writing at a FreeWrite! is like throwing a surprise party for yourself.  You never know what is going to spill out on your computer screen.  Is an evil twin lurking in the machinery? Or is it my fingers that somehow acquire access to long forgotten memories\, buried dreams and nightmares? No matter how many times I ask myself\, Where did that come from\,  No matter how many times I think I should have run out of surprises by now–something unexpected jumps out from where it’s been lurking behind a load of unpacked boxes in the basement of my mind.  I didn’t know I knew that\, I think.”\n—Sarah Barnett \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMORE LOCAL OPPORTUNITIES TO WRITE\nTraditional FreeWrites \n(visit the website for updates: FreeWrites)–and please note holiday dates when classes will not be held\nMondays \n8-10 a.m.\nRehoboth Beach Library (please use the back door).Carl Frey\, Joanne Sinsheimer\, and Tom Hoyer will alternate leading. SUMMARY:Metallica Tribute The Four Horsemen @ Milton Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Dedication to excellence is what separates U.S. metal heroes THE FOUR HORSEMEN from the ocean of ‘tribute’ bands. The only album-quality Metallica tribute band on the planet\, they deliver the unforgettable\, note-for-note perfect experience that is guaranteed to surpass even the wildest dreams of Metallica aficionados. The speed\, the precision\, the signature riffs\, and the look – THE FOUR HORSEMEN are the real deal! \n They have the talent to deliver the sonic authenticity of the vintage thrash songs with high caliber execution – including the blistering vocals of the albums like no one else. No gimmicks on the stage. Just sheer energy\, chest-pounding\, crowd-pleasing power.  The very same intensity that drew millions to Metallica in the 80’s. Guitarist/vocalist Sean Perry explains; “Fans deserve the highest quality reproduction of Metallica’s records and shows. That’s why we’re here.” \n Guided by his vision and determination\, the band have become heroes to their ever-growing fan base in the U.S. and are now spreading their wings to take over the globe. \n “I saw Metallica on the Black Album tour in 1991 and that experience changed me forever. The sound\, the energy between band and audience – from that moment on I knew what I was put on earth to do. Music is my life!” says Sean.  Little did he know that his thrasher heroes would play an even bigger part in his artistic future when he was approached by a Metallica tribute band looking for a new\, charismatic front man in late 2006. \n Every live performance they have done has received widespread acclaim; the band have taken the art of paying tribute to a new level of potency. Focusing on Metallica’s first four\, classic albums – Kill ‘Em All\, Ride The Lightning\, Master of Puppets\, and …And Justice For All – with a smattering of anthems from the all-conquering Metallica/Black Album they deliver a show metal fans dream of. \n The Four Horsemen have now taken global management by Jeff Hair\, legendary sound engineer for MANOWAR. \n Be warned: They are primed and ready to bring their high-energy show to stages around the world! \n  \nCopy and pics from the website

SUMMARY:"CEZANNE: PORTRAITS OF LIFE" Journeys in Art History\, at Cinema Art Theater
DESCRIPTION:The Rehoboth Beach Film Society is pleased to present the 2023 Journey in Art History Exhibition on Screen™ (EOS) film series. EOS is the originator and pioneer of bringing exhibition-based art films to the cinema. Working with top international museums and galleries\, EOS creates films which offer a cinematic immersion into the world’s best loved art\, accompanied by insights from the world’s leading historians and arts critics. The three-part series will begin in January with brand new films each month through March. The focus of the Journey in Art series is to introduce the works of history’s greatest painters and to provide opportunities to view blockbuster art exhibitions from galleries worldwide. \nCEZANNE: PORTRAITS OF LIFE\nView Screenings \n  \nExhibition on Screen is thrilled to reprise one of its most successful films\, dedicated to the life and work of Paul Cézanne. Cezanne: Portraits of Life is a revealing portrait about a man dubbed ‘the father of us all’ by Matisse and Picasso. Narrated by multi award-winning actor Brian Cox\, one cannot appreciate 20th century art without understanding the significance and genius of Paul Cézanne. The film was recorded at the National Portrait Gallery in London\, with additional interviews from experts and curators from Museum of Modern Art in New York\, National Gallery of Art in Washington\, DC and Musée d’Orsay in Paris. With correspondence from the artist himself\, the film takes audiences to the places Cézanne lived and worked and sheds light on an artist who is perhaps one of the least known and yet most important of all the Impressionists. Cezanne: Portraits of Life was released to coincide with a major Cézanne exhibition at Tate Modern\, the crown jewel of modern art galleries in London (Oct 22\, 2021 – Mar 23\, 2022). [2022\, UK\, 85 min\, Not Rated] \n The Guardian writes\, “A film that thoroughly requires careful listening and looking.” \n  \nLocation: Cinema Art Theater \nAdmission \n\n$9.00 RBFS Members\n$11.50 General\n\nClick on the desired screening times for tickets \n\n\n\n\nMon\nFeb 13\n2:00 PM\n   Cinema Art Theater\n\n\n\nTue\nFeb 21\n6:00 PM\n   Cinema Art Theater\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:The Dave Matthews Tribute Band @ Milton
DESCRIPTION:The only nationally touring tribute to the Dave Matthews Band. \nTheir name says it all: The Dave Matthews Tribute Band. For nearly 20 years\, the band has been performing sold out shows around the world; playing over 1\,500 dates in 46 states and 8 countries. Many go to their live shows with reservations\, high expectations\, and the burning question\, “Do these guys sound like the real Dave Matthews Band?” Almost always the answer is\, “Yes!”\nSince 2004\, The DMTB is the only nationally touring tribute to the Dave Matthews Band. This 5-piece ensemble strives to pay homage to their famous counterparts by matching the excitement\, energy\, intensity and intimacy of a DMB live show.\nWhile most fans never witnessed the real band before they became the platinum-selling artists they are today\, The Dave Matthews Tribute Band prides itself on giving audiences this opportunity at intimate venues around the world.\nAs Rick Grant of Entertaining U in Jacksonville\, FL wrote\, “The Dave Matthews Tribute Band turned out to exceed its billing as a quality improvisational band that uses Dave Matthews material as themes to improvise. Clearly\, this distinguishes them from the other so-called tribute bands. The band is exceptionally tight and produces a solid groove over which the players improvise with hot chops.”\nBeyond mastering the DMB sound and the relentless touring\, what separates The Dave Matthews Tribute Band from other cover bands is their passion\, love\, and respect for DMB and their music. That is what makes you come out of one of their shows saying\, “Yeah\, they really do sound like the real Dave Matthews Band.”\n  \nCopy and pic from the website
