SUMMARY:Sussex Bird Club | Invite the Birds with Native Plants
DESCRIPTION:JOIN the interactive monthly meeting of The Sussex Bird Club\, featuring Alice Mohrman\, Education Coordinator and Certified Wildlife Habitat (CWH) Outreach agent at Abbott’s Mill Nature Center in Milford\, DE\, who will present on how to use native plants to attract birds to your garden. Learn how to create layers of native plants in your landscape\, whether your garden is big or small\, to attract birds throughout the year. Discover garden ideas using attractive native plants that support wildlife and help reduce pollution in waterways. Alice also will teach how to certify your property as a NWF Wildlife Habitat.\nAlice has been an Environmental Educator since 1986. She has explored the flora and fauna of coastal communities from Massachusetts to Georgia. Alice has worked as Teacher/Naturalist with the University of Rhode Island\, Massachusetts Audubon\, Connecticut Audubon\, Center for the Inland Bays\, and currently with the Delaware Nature Society. As Education Coordinator and Certified Wildlife Habitat Outreach agent at Abbott’s Mill Nature Center\, Alice actively engages schools\, groups and residents with experiences in our natural world. She coordinates an active group of volunteer Habitat Stewards\, for Kent and Sussex Counties. These programs share information about the benefits of landscaping with native plants\, which includes attracting birds and butterflies and improving water quality in our communities.\nThis event is co-sponsored with The Sussex Bird Club.\nNOTE: this session is conducted through Zoom.
