Public can own a financial stake in the rockstar-turned-winemaker’s brand
LEWES, DELAWARE (July 15, 2024) — Unplugged & Uncorked, which offers seven Italian wines available to residents in 40 states, has opened a community investment round on Wefunder to expand the coastal Delaware company fivefold in the next year.
Unplugged & Uncorked’s brand is Paul Cullen Wines, started by musician-chef Paul Cullen, a former bass player with the band Bad Company, and corporate executive Jim Rivette.
Since launching in 2021, the wine brand has received endorsement from chefs, wine shop owners and consumers with discerning palates. It was also the only wine served at a Wilmington, Delaware, fundraiser to benefit the James Beard Foundation.
“We’ve opened an investment round on Wefunder to take Paul Cullen Wines to the next level,” Rivette said. “In particular, we will use the funds to market the company and hire staff. Our customers have proved there is a demand for good, affordable Italian wines, and we’re excited to reach more people with the products.”
Customers appreciate the compelling story behind Paul Cullen Wines as much as they do the wine.
Cullen pivoted from playing in stadiums to performing a private concert in clients’ homes after preparing them a multicourse Italian wine dinner. He’s traveled nationwide to cook for clients, their families and friends. Each meal ends with an intimate concert.
“It’s amazing history behind a solid brand,” Rivette said.
Anyone can invest from $100 to $100,000 through Wefunder, a Kickstarter-like online platform.
Instead of owning direct shares in the company, investors hold an interest in a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) company dedicated to owning equity in Unplugged & Uncorked Inc.
“Fans of our wine can invest in our mission, wine and story,” Cullen said. “They have a front-row seat to experience the growth of a company they believe in.”
