Fall Saturday Market Begins

The HLFM Fall Saturday Market will be open 9am to noon from October 5th through November 23rd at the Lewes Elementary School parking lot, 820 Savannah Road. The Fall Market celebrates the season with Apple Celebration Day, Jazz Fest, Beebe Healthcare Day, a spooky Halloween Market, Customer Appreciation Day, special Food Drives, and more!

Thirty-one farmers/producers will bring broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, lettuces, pumpkins, apples and apple cider, varieties of winter squashes, beans, potatoes, beets, radishes, garlic, spring onions, figs, plums, pears, as well as kale, stir-fry mix, cucumbers, peppers, oysters, live crabs, hand-picked crab meat, crab soup, seasonal soups, honey, jams, mushrooms, chicken, beef, pork, turkey, duck, lamb, freshly laid eggs, locally roasted coffee and coffee drinks, kombucha, fresh-baked breads, apple cider donuts, cakes, cookies, pies, and pastries—including vegan and gluten-free selections—made with fruit from vendors at the Market, herb, veggie, and flower plants, fresh-cut herbs, beautiful cut-flower bouquets, wreaths, and much more.

The HLFM is unique in that it is producer-only—customers connect directly with the farmer who grew the produce and raised the animals to buy their local fruit, veggies, eggs, and meats. This Market is where the farmers are—the most farmers in any farmers market in the Delmarva!

Please note that dogs and other pets (except for service animals) are not permitted inside the Market. This is to ensure the safety of customers, vendors, and volunteers.

We strongly encourage customers to bike or walk to the Market if you are able. Entrance for walkers and bikers will be off of Savannah Road. Limited parking is available in the school’s bus loop parking lot off of Sussex Drive–with coned off accessible parking spaces in the section closest to the Market. Customers may also use the new Fred Thomas Middle School parking lot, but please note that street parking is no longer allowed along much of Sussex Drive. Beebe Hospital also generously allows Market customers to park in its outside parking lot, and there is also parking available at the parking lots at George H.P. Smith Park, a short walk on the new path to Lewes Elementary School.

The HLFM website www.historiclewesfarmersmarket.org lists all vendors, their contact information, and whether or not they take pre-orders. For pre-orders, the customer may pick up at the vendor tent in the Market.

The Market’s weekly newsletter lists what each vendor is bringing to Market, demos and more. To receive the newsletter customers should email info@historiclewesfarmersmarket.org and ask to be added to the list.

The Market accepts SNAP, WIC, and SFMNP benefits, and continues to match SNAP up to $20 per market, per customer. Please go to the SNAP tent to process SNAP/EBT.

The HLFM continues its Food Pantry Purchase Program. HLFM customers who want to help feed the local community may purchase local produce, meats, milk, and other food from growers at the Market to donate to this program every Saturday. At the end of the Market, the produce and other foods are gathered and given to food pantries including Epworth and Casa San Francisco. The HLFM thanks its customers for their generosity.

The HLFM thanks The Lee Ann Wilkinson Group, 2024 HLFM Market Champion, for their continued support of the Market.
