Fall Concert
Delaware Symphonic Winds will perform its fall concert program, Suites, Sprints & Soundscapes, at Dover High School in Dover, DE at 7 p.m., Saturday, November 1, 2025 and at William Penn High School in New Castle, DE at 3 p.m., Sunday, November 2, 2025.
The program will feature Steven Kieley as baritone saxophonist soloist in Vongole! by Satoshi Yagisawa in addition to audience favorites Overture to Candide by Leonard Bernstein and Suite from Pineapple Poll by Sir Arthur Sullivan.
In addition to Michael, Delaware Symphonic Winds will welcome three guest conductors from within the ensemble: John Bell, Trombonist, will conduct Memory Cascades by Christopher Bell; Shaey Carlo Vega, Clarinetist, will conduct Arizona by Franco Cesarini and Danielle Jones, Trombonist, will lead the ensemble in the Side-By-Side experience with Arabian Dances by Roland Barrett.
The Side-By-Side experience features band students from area high schools in Delaware. Selected band students are director approved and meet the criteria of personal musicianship, high levels of commitment, and musical aptitude.
The Side-by-Side experience is an extraordinary opportunity for young instrumentalists to perform alongside Delaware Symphonic Winds members. The students will share the stage and develop musical relationships with the members as they rehearse and perform in the concerts.
Delaware Symphonic Winds is the First State’s only semi-professional wind ensemble. The group includes band directors, freelance musicians, and college music students who reside throughout Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania. Its mission is to perform the finest literature available for wind band, with a deliberate focus on programming works by underrepresented voices in the medium.
Delaware Symphonic Winds is led by Music Director and Conductor Michael D. Russo. A founding member of the Imperial Brass Quintet, he has performed throughout the United States as well as in China, the Philippines, the Dominican Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, the Czech Republic, France and Switzerland.
