About Lewes’ Original “Virtual” Christmas Tour of Lewes
Experience Lewes’ original virtual house tour in the historic Delaware town, as ten private engaging venues “virtually” open their doors to our guests during the Lewes Historical Society’s 48th annual signature event, a “Christmas Tour of Lewes.” Your opportunity to view this unique experience will begin on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 5 p.m. The tour will be available to enjoy until January 4, 2022, at 11:59 p.m.
From the comfort of your home, you will be led into ten of Lewes’ distinctive, festive and elegant houses and historic properties decorated for the holiday season! Professionally filmed and narrated by ABC television and radio personality Michael Sprouse, this 60-minute exclusive house tour takes you through each of the private residences and historic buildings, pointing out unique aspects of each design, architectural element, and history. From a newly remodeled 19th-century Federal-style home in the center of town to a charming Middleburg Hunt-style house situated near Lewes’ wetlands, all ten distinctive properties will be on display showcasing the individual tastes and style.
Footage includes two of the Society’s historic buildings, restored and decorated for the season, and a holiday entertaining demonstration at the 18-century DAR Maull House.
Join us also at the Society’s Outdoor Holiday Village & Marketplace located on the Lewes Historical Society’s main campus at 110 Shipcarpenter Street in Lewes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2021. Shop with holiday vendors, buy greenery to decorate your home, join with historic interpreters over the firepit to hear period stories, and visit with the live sheep from Brittingham Farms! Grab a cup of hot cider inside Mariner’s Tavern (Rabbit’s Ferry) and experience the Tavern as it was in the early 19th-century. HouseTickets are $5, free for children 12 and under, and available at the gate.
