RBWG Free Writes

|
FreeWrite is the name given to an informal gathering of writers of ALL skill levels who meet to practice their writing in a friendly and nurturing atmosphere. The goal of the FreeWrite is to provide a place and an opportunity for people to have fun with their writing, explore different genres, and to do this in the company of other writing enthusiasts. Each FreeWrite is facilitated by a Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild member who has experience in teaching, writing and/or leading such groups. Participants write prose, songs, poetry, fiction, work on novels, start short stories, etc., all during FreeWrites. Writing prompts are often (but not always) designed to focus on a particular aspect of writing such as the use of sensory details, the necessity of strong verbs, or the craft of writing dialogue.

The leader sends the prompts a few minutes before the start. Participants are asked to write for 5 minutes each for as many of the prompts as they wish to respond to (there are usually about 10 choices). The leader asks participants to send responses back to the group about 75 – 90 minutes after beginning.
