Lewes – Half a century of creativity shines at Angola by the Bay’s (ABTB) 50th Craft Fair July 19, from 9 am until 2 pm.
More than 125 artisans from throughout Delaware will sell their unique, unusual and creative items that include paintings, plants, photographs, hand-made jewelry, fishing equipment and clothing.
ABTB long-time resident Judy Kane has seen the Craft Fair evolve from a “nice, neighborly show” with ABTB crafters to one where outside artisans make it their priority to attend year after year. Kane has sold merchandise for the nonprofit organization Just Us Cat & Kitten Rescue at the Craft Fair for several years. She has also been the early morning greeter who registered and directs participating artisans to assigned spaces for at least 15 years. “Many are returning vendors,” she said. “They love participating because of the wonderful customers, the reasonable entrance fee, the free parking, and the shady grove where they sell their arts and crafts.”
This year ABTB has asked vendors to donate a gift for the Prize Wheel, created as a special feature to celebrate 50 years of the fair. Visitors can get a ticket, spin the Prize Wheel, then receive a prize. One hundred percent of the revenue goes to charity. Visitors can also enjoy classic eats from the ABTB’s Owls men’s club with festive vibes for all.
The Craft Fair is sponsored by the Sea Gals, part of the ABTB community. The Sea Gals is a social and fundraising group made up of female residents who contribute monies raised to assist local nonprofit organizations, charitable groups and projects within the ABTB community and the surrounding area. Some of those charities include Pathways to Success, veterans’ groups, local food pantries, and the Boys and Girls Club. Other Sea Gals’ fundraising events include the popular annual Mahjong tournament and a yard sale.
All vendor spots are sold out. ABTB provides free parking for customers.
