Try switching up your yoga routine – or make it a new one – by giving beach yoga a try. There are plenty of opportunities to do so at our bay and ocean beaches.

Are you new to yoga and not sure of investing in a yoga mat that may go unused? Beach yoga might be your answer. Just bring a towel because, if you don’t have a mat; the sand is very forgiving, providing for a soft start (or landing).
Here are additional summer 2025 options.
A good place to start is a series of free yoga classes presented by Dimitra Yoga at the Lewes Canalfront Park, every Sunday through September 29, 8-9 am. Bring your own mat or towel to this class, and of course, plenty of water and sunscreen.
Another generous community project of Dimitra yoga is a series of yoga classes on the beautiful Historic Lewes campus on Shipcarpenters Square. Participation is free, but there is a suggested donation of $20 per class, with proceeds going directly to Historic Lewes. Classes take place on Wednesdays from June 18th until August 27, from 8 – 9 am.
Rather than the typical indoor yoga session, why not try yoga on a farm with adorable horses? Love Creek Farm is hosting a unique session of outdoor yoga in the vicinity of beautiful horses (don’t worry, unlike goat yoga, the horses are more for atmosphere, not participation). Join them on Saturday, June 29, from 9 – 10 am.
In an unusual way to stretch and twist, Dewey Beer Company offers yoga at their brewery every Sunday throughout the summer, beginning July 6. The class fee of $20 does not include brew samples, which makes sense, but of course, that is a refreshing option afterwards.
At the reasonable price of $10 per session, Involution Yoga is offering daily yoga sessions at the beach of Roosevelt Inlet in Lewes, Monday through Friday from 8 – 9 am.
Beyond these special seasonal classes, there are plenty more organized beach yoga classes. Expect to pay what you would indoors in yoga studios. There is a plethora of choices for yoga in our beach towns, and if you are not inclined to sand, here is a short list of other places to stretch and express your oooom. And keep in mind, there’s even a local yoga professional dedicated to make the yoga experience fun and comfortable for those of us 50+: Lewes Yoga.
